Foxtel AFL Picture quality - BAD!

I've had Foxtel for a number of years and I've never seen such horrible picture quality as we now have on Fox Sports 1. The picture is very pixelated and blurry, obviously sqeezing bandwidth. Its almost unwatchable!

Fox Footy channel always had a great picture. So c'mom Foxtel pull your fingers out and fix this.

I tried phoning Foxtel but they don't have a 'complaints' number (just recorded messages, or the usual sales people)

Does this just effect satellite viewers(me) or are others seeing this on cable to?

I'd much rather better PQ than have 30+ channels of crap (including those timeshift channels) wasting all the available bandwidth!!

Quantity over quality, thats Foxtel's motto.

Last night I put the game on the HD channel and it came up as SD instead. Thought they were going to broadcast the footy in HD or was that only 10 doing it.

its only 10. 7 have ever broadcast anything in HD, they believe that 576p is HD

Sucked in....i saved myself 2grand got myself a HD CRT and don't have that problem.

I got 102cm LCD, with cable. It's no HD or even SD feed of sport (but who does that anyway????), but i didnt see any problems when i was watching. Better than watching sports through an anologue transmission

Yeah but the money i saved on over rated technology (plasma and LCD are just a waste of money) I bough a 160 gig HD DVD recorder with an inbuilt digital receiver...and i still had heaps of change leftover.

Thats just plain wrong. I have had both cable and sat and they're pretty much the same. I have the Scart on the back of my iQ connected to my 42" HD Plasma via RGB (best PQ you could get from a Foxtel box) and its 'still' dreadful.

As i said before, they should cut the crap and put more effort into getting the PQ up to scratch. Looks perfect on an analogue CRT, but tehy are going to get more complains as more and more people invest in LCD and Plasma.

HD Sport couldn't come soon enough. Thank you Channel 10!!*

Its been a rough day. I meant a friggen dvd recorder with a 160gig HD.

HD=Harddrive.

Plasma is fundamentally flawed. Doesnt matter what quality the network is pushing, the plasma cant handle it.

LCD/CRT on the other hand is a high pixel device.... so you can see a difference in standard vs HD.

Plasma is better for watching sport as LCDs' still suffer from ghosting due to refresh rates and have better blacks. They are getting better though.

And trust me plasma's will easily "handle" any resolution fox, 7 & 10 are broadcasting the footy in.

And yes the foxtel picture quality is crap

I haven't had a problem with the picture quality. I'm on satellite. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Edit: Oh yeah, & I also have an old CRT TV

Does the people complaining realise that LCDs and Plasmas are still WAY behind Tubes for displaying fast motion (i.e. Sports)

The reason that the picture quality is poor on a better TV is that the technology, despite being seemingly impressive, is still technically behind that of CRT televisions.

If you have yourself a big tube TV, it would look much better.

Yet you people are paying for that crap? I don't have a plasma or lcd, just an old fashioned TV. yet I get great picture quality & with an indoor antenna, makes me glad I haven't been sucked into the pay for TV hyperbole.
