First - this is not about today's performance.

I've noticed we seem to be on the wrong end of most free kick counts this year. Prior to today, we were behind 210-234. Most totals are fairly close, but in two games we were significantly behind - North and Port.

It's the second worst free kick ratio in the leage (the Cats are the worst, so you can't just say 'It's the AFL favoring the top sides' - eg: Port have the best free ratio).

I don't believe in 'AFL Umpires Conspiracy'. I'm just concerned we seem to be giving away a large number of frees. I notice we are behind in tackles 659-722 - the opposition tackle us more than we tackle them. Overall, I've seen just as many dodgy ridiculous free kicks go our way as the opposition - but there's something not right. (Or is it just a statistical fluke?).

Are we going in too hard? Do we have poor tackling techniques? Does our zone mean we get to a lot of contests late? Our worst (negative) performers are Graham, Jackson, King, Grigg, and McGuane.

I think it's something we should be concerned about.

Just my 20c worth. I thought there were some rough holding the ball free kick given against us today. Generallly i felt the umps were wearing sydney undies under their uniforms aswell

Just back from the game, don't like to complain about umps much but geez we were r*ped today. The free kick to Reid in a marking contest 15 meters out from goal straight in frony was perplexing. At a key moment as well.

What was the free kick count today? Must have been 2 to 1

I wonder if it is that we try to get it out when tackled and get done for improper disposal while some clubs now when tackled let themselves just get wrapped up and wait for the ball up.

Who knows? i still rekon we get ripped off.

Was a mystery - I thought they paid him a mark as I couldn't see a free (not that it was a mark either). The ruck frees were more perplexing but in the end, had they kicked straight we would have been flogged.

Shepherd against Vickery in the ruck, the Reid one 15 out from goal, and the Edwards holding the ball are 3 shockers that stand out. Definitely copped a rough deal today but shouldn't have been as close as we were either, so we can't blame the umps.

The Edwards holding the ball was a typical bullshit home crowd free kick. He ran into Farmer and the ball spilled out free kick given to Bolton, what the ****?? I am fully convinced after to going to games at Subi for years, that umpires just panic when the home crowd roars and give the decision the home teams way to keep the calm.

free kick counts are irrelivant, it isnt about who had more free kicks, its about how many were fair, they arent fair if the counts are equal, you would have to go through and look at each and every single decision. you might say the mistakes for both sides will even it out, and they might, but its not necessarily a certainty and without looking at them individually you cant look at it like that.

The Richmond game in Sydney is normally the only time I go to a Tigers game, so I don't know if the umpiring is always as bad as it seems, but it always seems bad! So many of the decisions are utterly perplexing. I really believe the umpires in these matches are influenced by the Sydney crowd - who don't know the rules and think that any player who picks up the ball and is tackled should be penalised. The Swans players are incredible cheaters, too, and the umpires never seem to notice. The number of times Lewis Roberts Thomson grabs a handful of his opponent's jumper is ridiculous, and I don't know how the three umpires, in the last quarter, missed the Swans player who grabbed Cotchin's arm just forward of centre wing to prevent him running after the football and possibly setting up a goal.

the jetta goal from right in front was a throw from trent dennis lane.. I know there were bad calls both ways but those ones are the worst.. we should beat them at the MCG layer this year if there are any positives to come out of this. we didnt get our game going and it was still close
