p.s Not a troll, It was a good win

I watched the replay of the game, and still couldn't see what was the infringement, the free may or may not of been there, but didn't see any footage of the actual incident. I presume it as holding or blocking 5 metres off the ball, but can't be sure.

On the TV, the awarding umpire clearly indicates that Williams was held as he tried to take off for his lead. This is one of the things the umpires stated they would be penalising more actively.

Watch for this: As Boyle hand-passes from his mark (HFF), you can see the umpire who pays the free (out of focus) blowing his whistle as he runs towards the goal-square top-left of screen. Then, as Clark passes to Williams, the umpire is already talking to the Richmond player, setting the mark, and indicating holding by tugging his shirt with his left arm.

no one has mentioned this yet but i failed to see a reason why roughy was penalised for trying to take a mark in the forward pocket(second quarter i think), against, i think, bowden.
he had the sit, jumped straight up from behind bowden, and as he did so his stomach rubbed against bowdens back, he then landed while still trying to juggle the mark.
the free was given for a push in the back, but surely if a forward is leaping for the ball, hasn't used his hands to get himself up and has made contact with the ball(was still juggling it when the free was paid), surely, it's either a mark or play on?

anyone else see this? i was very confused by it.

Yes Cosby, i saw it, and basically thought the same thing. it was clearly an incorrect call by the umpire, as Roughy had first hands on the ball, and didnt impede bowdens path to the contest either. I basically put it down to the fact that its february, the players are rusty, so its only fair to expect the same from our trusty maggots :p

richo got a goal from a free when it should not have been a free as he was holding croady as much as croady was holding him but the umps did not see that it was clear on tv too

did not see too much mistakes from umps thou but i could be wrong

I though roughie definately gave a free away and I though the level of umpiring was very bad so looks like we opposite views. A few times I though we had the free and it went to Richmond. I thought the umpires had such an impact that it brought Richmond back into the game. If you notice the umpires too much they are doing a bad job but if you don't really notice them too much then they are doing a great job.
