He is going to be a beast
It's never been an issue and don't know why anyone has an issue with it.
He has shown he can kick them with low penetration or chip them to spot a better option if need be.
He isn't Buckley in his kicking but he is better then most the 22 who played this year from what I have seen.
His TAC coach believed that has biggest weakness was he looked to kick at every opportunity rather than slip a hand pass out. This resulted in turn overs against quality opposition that waited in the space behind a contest. I haven't seen a game of Freemans (other than 15 mins in the pre season this year) but he looked a pretty decent kick, just that maybe his first panic option is to get boot on ball with no real thought other than send it down town.

Figured as much.Spoke with Freeman last week. He was ready to go about 3-4 weeks before the end of the season however the club decided that there was no point and not worth the risk.
I guess they took a different path for Scharenberg...Spoke with Freeman last week. He was ready to go about 3-4 weeks before the end of the season however the club decided that there was no point and not worth the risk.
I would have thought they were two completely different cases.I guess they took a different path for Scharenberg...

I think the difference is the risk of reinjury. Scharenberg had a lengthy rehab and was ready to go with a bigger part of the AFL season left. His injury was considered settled and his new injury is unrelated. ACL could have happened to anyone on the list.Working on the assumption that it's true that they just told Freeman to get ready for preseason even though he could have played...
I don't get it.
I was happy for Sharon to play VFL if he was right to go, but I can't see why you'd put one on ice and not the other.
Beyond "blah blah case by case basis". If they were both ready for some game time, surely you either play both or put both in the cupboard?

Ugh even thinking about Shazzas knee makes me angry!![]()

Freeman had a particularly bad hamstring injury and no matter how good the science these do have a habit of being reinjured. With 3-4 weeks left it may have reasonably been considered the benefits didn't outweigh the risk
It's not one size fits all.

No it doesn't. The one glaring weakness in his game is his tendency to throw the ball on his boot and hope for the best while in traffic.Works ok for beams..
I can see where you're coming from, but to be honest, I have to agree with the clubs stance. No point in risking re injuring a hamstring with only weeks to go in a season.I don't blame the ACL on anything other than shit luck. It certainly wasn't because he came back too soon, from what I have read and seen. I also don't disagree with anything you said.
What doesn't sit quite right with me is that Freeman allegedly said he was "ready to go" a month out and they said let's not risk even a minute of VFL. Even taking the nature of hamstrings into account, "ready to go" is ready to go. Call it a gut reaction rather than a criticism... It just doesn't sit right with me.
yeah same with me, but lets hope in the long term we made the right call.I really hoped we were going to pick Aish on draft night.
glad we got some bigger bodies, we had been greeting saplings the previous drafts, but Shaz and Freeman are built like tanks.yeah same with me, but lets hope in the long term we made the right call.

Berg was a bone related issue, once they heal, they are healed. Freeman had a tissue/tendon problem, always a bit iffy coming back with a higher risk of recurrence. We were just unlucky Berg did his knee.
I guess the circumstances of the 'risk' vary from player to player.I understand the differences between the injuries, I really do. I've had relatively substantial bone injuries and tendon injuries. But ready to go is ready to go.
I'd suggest that in reality they were NOT 100% convinced that he was ready to go so they put him in cotton wool.
