Being pretenders isn't so bad really. You may make finals 7 times over the last 8 seasons and not win the flag when you put out performances like that

There's not much between the pretenders and contenders imo. If anything the pretenders might even have a better list but just choose to pretend all around the place and stuff.

Maybe greatness could be defined by winning most of the time, as opposed to not winning as much and selecting your wins.
