Never have been any good, never will be.
Whenever you expect them to perform, they don't. They were hyped up over summer and typically let everyone down.
Some things never change.

(Shake my head in disbelief)

Admitedly there's a few out through suspension aka the band of thugs.

Nonetheless, very talented side.

The coach is simply not getting the most out of them and not getting them to play as a team.

Your time has come CC!

Freo Footy Club's three F's - Failures, Frauds, Flops since 1995.

i think the media just hyped freo up too much.. good team, too early to write em off, its just the media's fault for having them a top 4 certainty before the season starts.. 0 - 2 doesnt mean a great deal, nor does brisbane and essendons 2- 0 ... both still no guarantee to make the 8 w/c freo w/b saints cats syd should make it last 2 spots for brisbane/port/essendon/melbourne this years top 8 will be quite weak from 7 - 8 IMO

I wish I could say something to prove you wrong but unfortunately I can't. That performance was pathetic and I am sick to death of Connolly allowing this to happen. He doesn't react to these types of situations and really needs too. He is the softest coach in the AFL and something needs to be done.

really, because judging by the Saints woeful performance against Brisbane the other night you would have to say they are no certainity to make the 8 either.

Geelong has a good win against the reigning wooden spooner and suddenly they are guranetted a spot in the 8 despite struggling to match it with a genuine contender the week before.

Freo lost their first 2 games, against bottom 4 teams from last year, that everyone expected them to win easily and yet they are still certain to make the top 8??!!

Port, Brisbane and Essendon were all roundly tipped as bottom 4, if not wooden spoon contenders this season, yet when they perform well and win their first two they are still not certain of making the 8, but even if they do, they have no hope of making an impact.

Think you need to re-think your logic there mate!!

I thought Bay 13 was for this sort of stuff?

I'll preface this with "I know flags are the only things that matter"... but we need something to hang our hat on... so here it is.
If Adelaide win, we'll be in the bottom 4 for the first time since Rd 3 2003. That's right, the longest current streak of any side being outside the bottom 4. Being outside the bottom 4 won't win a flag, but remember we made the finals in 2003 too.

That has nothing to do with anything.

they lack heart, determination etc... im not sure whats wrong with em. they arent playing disgraceful footy at the moment, people have under rated port and the dons but still if the dockers want to be flag contenders you must account for teams which arent up there.

That takes guts to admit your own team was pathetic so good for you. The Dockers owe their fans a lot, and if they don't beat the Eagles next week and make it 0-3, then it's gonna make it really hard to make top 4.

I'm not sure it's possible to draw a bow longer than that..... ;)

A bit harsh Hazy!

Tarrant and Pav showed a good understanding together and even some chemistry.

Sandilands was incredible all day.

Webster was outstanding with his delivery into the 50.

Hase showed a bit.

Plenty of upside in today....we were hardly flogged. And it was a game of GOOD footy.

We are missing a fair few players from injury and suspension and ran into an Essendon team that is playing good footy at the wrong end of the year.

Get a grip, have a beer and settle down.

It is only 0-2....not the end of the world buddy!:thumbsu:

I would go so far as to say it was an excellent game of footy.

And there is plenty of upside.

Freo are G O N E. The displays of the last two weeks have shown that they cannot win the flag.

I still think they have a bloody good squad and my fingers will be crossed for next week.

Knee jerk anyone?

Once they get all their players back they'll look a far more fluid unit. But the worry that I took out of the game was they just didn't look desperate enough, they seemed contented to let the bombers have their 2/3 goal buffer and only really pressed in the dying stages.

This lack of urgency must be adressed.

Fremantle are far from gone. They possess the best tap ruckman in the comp as well as arguably the best CHF. One would think the midfield will click fairly soon, Tarrant's only going to get better and they can welcome back Michael Johnson and Jeff Farmer. Today was a great game of footy, Fremantle were far from bad in my opinion. I'll tip them to knock over West Coast.

Agree that 0-2 with a few key players out is hardly the end of the world but what would concern me, if I was a Dockers fan would be some of the things that havent changed.

Firstly, the inability to sustain performance/pressure for long enough in games, secondly the continued reliance on too few when the pressure is applied and most importantly, the lack of speed/pace/quickness (choose your word) in midfield. Sandilands must have had about 2000 hitouts today and yet they were rarely decisive. This is partly down to Sandi but substantially down to the lack of clearance ability in your team. This will kill you in high pressure, one on one style games.

Not the end of the world, but some worrying signs that these issues remain.

Lokking forward to next week, 0-3 with an away game v Melbourne to come would start to raise the heat on Cuddles ... ;)

I still think they have a bloody good squad and my fingers will be crossed for next week.

While WC will undoubtedly be the favourites (and deservedly so), it certainly won't be a walk in the park for your lot.

And knowing Freo - when everyone has written them off and tipped WC for a certain win - we'll pull one out of our arse and surprise everyone.... ;)

We couldnt possibly be favourites. You own us remember, we cannot beat you, we are your biatches, - I am planning a vacation next week, no point in watching an inevitable defeat .....

;)

Nice summation 87:thumbsu:

Firstly, the inability to sustain performance/pressure for long enough in games,
No argument.

secondly the continued reliance on too few when the pressure is applied

No argument
and most importantly, the lack of speed/pace/quickness (choose your word) in midfield.
We certainly missed Peake when he went off injured.

And our slow mids are nothing new.

It also showed our lack of depth in replacing our injured/suspended players.

If we get close to our best 22 on the paddock, we will at least hold most midfields if not beat them.

At present all we can do is rotate Pav through there, at that kills our forward set up.*

*About the only time I agreed with Timmy Watson all day

Sandi was outstanding.:thumbsu:

But personally, I would have had him hitting the ball long out of the ruck and let us run onto it...(we play better that way IMO), because we were getting beaten, in close, at stoppages.

Not the end of the world, but some worrying signs that these issues remain.

Yep!!

We will probably belt the tar out of you next weekend.

You would hate that. Wouldn't you.:D
