Dunno why you would ever put money on a bottom 6-8 team at the line v Port. Very efficient forward line for Port and are great at beating up weak sides with good ball winning mids, hard run and potency inside 50.

Anyway.

Pretty clearly still a long way off it. They did get a similar result round 1 last year and bounced back strongly up until about round 9. But they need to sort out the deadwood (Pearce, Ballas, Sutcliffe, probably Kersten who is a nothing player even if still quite young) and let the actually good senior players lead.

Good signs from him late too hard running around the ground. On one hand some may say it was junktime stats but if you keep running in games like these you are setting yourself up for the big pressure games and being able to run them out.

Well we’re talking about the freo coach but you choose to bring up to other clubs which is completely irrelevant. I get that it’s a coping mechanism, but unless you want to talk about Rossy I’m not sure what your point is.

Very impressive in JLT, saw their new ball movement plan and its cyril rioli exciting.

Added Wilson, Pearce (touted as future captain) and the improved Ryan in defense, plus Taberner coming on with Matera to support.

Neale had groin issues all last year (plus 3 surgeries in pre season) and Fyfe wasn't at his best, now he is. Blakely was in AA form for about half a season last year, as was Walters. They have a top 5 midfield.

RTB can get the best out of a list, the 2014 GF team had a lot limited players turned solders. Best record in the AFL for close games.

Last year they had no fwd line, looks like this year they still don't and have added to their woes by looking an absolute shambles in defence.
Long way to go but the sleeper team reference maybe just that unless they pull their collective fingers out.

Tarberner kicked 4 goals vs Essendon an 5 goals vs Brisbane. Saying that you are only basing this on one game. lets judge all this by round 23

4 goals against an Essendon that had to play three games in roughly a fortnight with ANZAC day. And Brisbane have been terrible.

The thing which separates Curnow from Taberner is Curnow is not just a good contested mark, but also a smart player who is able to get his teammates involved, plus he's very skilled and agile for a big guy. He's a modern multi-dimensional player. Taberner isn't that, he's mainly a contested mark player.
