I would like a KP forward with our first pick and hence Butcher should be at the top of our list but the reality is Melbourne will probably finish with less than five wins and get the concessionary pick and take both Scully and Butcher. I don't rate the other KPs as being worth a top 10 pick, so that being the case we should just go best available (As much as I agree with you Hamush about needing KPs).
Lucas, Morabito and maybe Koby Stevens are next in line. Morabito is very much a "freo" first round pick - fast athletic player with good skills and potential, I just reckon our recruiters would have him ahead of the other two at the moment.
Would really like Lewis Jetta to drafted to Freo second round.

Spot on Ysaye, friend at Swans reckons Jetta is pretty good.
Yesterday I saw Kyanga playing in the Easts versus Souths reserves match - how old is he? Was playing as the small forward and looked very good - my first live WAFL game for a while.
from what ive seen this year i think Morabito is a better option than Lucas. He has better skills and better decision making(something we lack alot).
With Jetta i think he needs to work more on his defensive game
I would imagine whoever has the higher pick out of WC and Freo, will take one of Lucas or Morabito, and the other the other (Unless someone bolts). And I think both would be happy with that.Comes down to need. Personally i would rather Morabito, but only if Jetta comes to Westcoast. His kicking is elite.
yer think freo should definatly be looking to draft Morabito.
Imagine 7-8 years down the track with Morabito and Hill running around together. Two genuine match winners
I would have thought Freo would be after an top flight KP and or Morabito depending on their view of who is available. Freo has focused its recent recruiting on the midfield, and with the addition of another mid in the 2 / 3 picks we will be adequately covered.
Don't forget KP's generally take time to develop, and we don't have many coming through (which unfortunately might prolong the career of Murphy at the club...)
I still think we should take a gamble and see if we can't get John Butcher by trading our first pick and something (Say a Garrick Ibbotson or a Michael Johnson) for a higher pick - I just don't think the other forwards in this draft will be anything like quality at AFL level and paying a pick 3 - 5 for therefore is not going to be worth it.
The rest of the draft should be spent on midfielders of which there is a fair amount of depth this year.
No and No.
And no

)No trading. Morabito seems to all the Goodes but doesnt have alot of control of his kicking. Lucus seems a better option.
skills and awareness makes your team quicker.
Dockers still need to draft a few more midfielders, last year we got alot of small/medium backs and forwards.
Maybe, in the end of the national dratf and all of the rookie draft go tall.
Stop saying No
Drafting and trading is all about weighting up the value of players and the relative needs of the team.
Ibbotson and Johnson, whilst very good players in isolation of the team, don't hold down significant roles in our team (At best Johnson does is importantish as a back up ruckman). And neither have made significant steps in the last couple of years to suggest that they will get any better (Not that they couldn't mind you Melbourne fans!)

Butcher on the other hand would very likely fill a structural need for a quality power forward in a few years time, or IMO at the very worst make a good gorilla backman, another structural need.
I know supporters always grow fond of their own players but sometimes you have to do the team thing and look at the team.
IMO Matthew Panos (Footballer) > Fitzpatrick (Athletic Freak), but would you take Panos or Fitzpatrick over Morabito/Lucas/Duncan, one or two of whom will be available at our first pick?
I'd be more inclined to trade Mundy than Ibbotson, although the perceived value is probably higher.
Mundy I'm not sure is ever going to make it. He may look good in a very good side, but he simply is a coward and you can't have that if you are going to be a serious team.
