Pushed a top four team yesterday for 3/4 of the game at the MCG.
The only things that are wrong at the moment can be rectified. we dont have the cattle, and some players are not fully fit.
Yes playing or non-playing of Palmer is a strange coaching move, but alot of positives still came out of this game.
Crowley needs to be played as a tagger give him that role, best game for a long time.Where would we be without Griffen, Clarke also looked like he
belonged out there and gots his hands to the ball.
Mzungoo, Pearce, Crighton are getting games into them.
Wet toast were in this position last year, supporters bagging players, coaches, structures, etc.
Have faith in the kids, a baptism of fire builds character.
Walters, Hayden, sandilands, Barlow will be back soon, Mj may get that rest soon.
Off to see the derby today, will keep my eye on Bucovaz.
Yes I was pissed off yesterday we didnt win, but looking at the big picture
next year we will see the changes required for succes.

Well said Blueshark. I agree. Few bodies back and it will be a different story. Although it is disappointing that the current guys on the park are not able to lift enough, but that will change soon enough.

Agree. There is such a flow of negativityon the Freo board, and I think it is unfounded. We are doing okay for a team that has had its structures destroyed by injuries.

Kind of hear you but I see the frustration of others.

It all depends where you sit and your realistic expectations.

Personally I am disappointed, I thought we were a top 6 team and in reality we are looking like a 8-12 team.

Injuries check, however AFL teams cop injuries - it is part of the game.

I'm a little more positive but I have lived through the dark times, so twilight does not look like the end of the world.

Positives abound - Fyfe, Griffin etc

We need to get this season on track and hopefully challenge next year and year after, then our window closes.

Good thread :thumbsu:

I wish I shared your confidence.

Alas i've been a Freo supporter for far too long to do that. Still, the season is by no means over as yet. If we can go 3-1 over the next 4 games we're back in with a chance.

A full report please Blueshark. I can't get there but I'm very keen to hear how he goes. Thanks.

On your post, I agree to a certain extent. After sleeping on it, I feel much more positive and am more focussed on the first 3 quarters - we played well.

One of the commentators yesterday mentioned that he had a chat with Bondy before the game and he said that Barlow was the only one that they can expect to get back from injury over the next few weeks - all the others are further off. So that doesn't sound good for Sandi, Hayden and Silvagni. Maybe they're saving up for a handful to come back all at once after the bye?

On our flag window. For sure the potential for the window to close abruptly does exsist with the departures of sandi, pav, maca & grover.but there is also the potential for us to draft a couple of KPP over the next couple of drafts to fill the shoes of maca & grover.snos i reckon will be able to cover for grover probably now, if fit. another offset on our flag window, is the potential, incredible midfield consisting of barlow, mundy, morabito, fyfe, hill, suban,de boer, broughton, pitt.our rucks of griffo & clarke will be more than competitive i believe.:thumbsu:

Of course there is the potential to draft KPP in the next couple of drafts ... just like there is for the other 17 teams inc GWS. We aren't in a better position to get them than anyone else

Well I beg to differ ,generally clubs go for best available then by needs.freo this year surely will have to draft by need(key back).

There's a lot of doomsday speak. We're still in the eight (albeit slightly). You can't deny the quality of the players we're missing. Many people have written much better reasons and conclusions of our current form-slump. But as said above, we've been hit with injury, and that's how elite sport goes.

It's pretty disappointing though. I've grown up Freo, so it's nothing surprising. The club just needs a major shake up. The culture could've changed with two straight finals appearances, but we might've f*cked that one up.

I have optimism for the end of season though. I continue to liken our situation to that of the Crows in the late 1990's. If we cement a home elimination final, we could pull off some positive finals results. We (should) have our best squad available. Who knows.

Are you sure? Those movies may want you to end your existence in the world/the world overall

If we were completely honest with ourselves, Hawthorn were just as much affected by injuries as we were. It would be fairly easy to put the case that they were more affected.

I remember that midget at the Hawks saying at the start of the season that they had a full squad to choose from apart from 1 or 2. That was 11 weeks ago, so sure that may have changed, but we haven't had that luxury.

I think one of the major thing that people have forgotten is that last year we exceeded expectations in a very big way. We were tipped to be bottom of the ladder and honestly the place we should have been hitting was between 9 - 13. Instead we stormed through the first few games and only dropped out of the top four due to injuries woes.

Then at the start of this year when we were still carrying over injuries from last year we began to accumulate a few more and people began to accept that it wouldn't be an easy ride and we would be 1 - 4 from the first four games. Instead we dominated and looked good and carried on adding injuries. Yet we are still in the top 8 and probably where we should be development wise if we had all our players at our disposal. So really considering the mountain of an injury toll we have once again exceeded expectations.

Then there is also the fact that we had a huge coaching staff turn over last year and the guys that came in are going to take some time to acclimatise to the way Harv's wants things done. This is not to say that I don't stand by my point that we could do with at least one extra assistant coach but it was always a change that would have an affect on the coaching technique and players.

So subsequently, there is no reason why we should be doubting our culture and doubting our coach when we have once again exceeded expectations in the face of adversity. If we make the 8 by years end and go straight out in the first match I would still call this year a success.

exceeding expectations last year.yep for sure they exceeded mine, not according to harvs.i distinctly remember reading we are(freo) not that far off being a top 4 side.this year, yep again we have exceeded expectations.i agree with you , if we make the 8 and bow out straight away season 2011 has been a success all things considered.
