Bit of deflection there, if anyone's been teflon it's Fred. He did what he had to yesterday and not much more. Not like we haven't been waiting a year and a half for it.
That is total bollocks. His last two games have been excellent. Not sure what you expect from a forward. His run up and down the ground in the last quarter, when the rest of the team was gassed, was almost game saving. Not to mention the two excellent goals he kicked when he was playing forward. I was critical of his first two games, but the last two have been very good.

Two things:

1. One of my favourite quotes was amended yesterday to "AFL umps are the thief of joy" after walking out of a stadium after a win feeling like it was a loss after copping that unjustified BS for a half. Even the doggies supporters in front of us were laughing at how biased it was. Geez, you wouldn't want to bet on AFL after watching games this weekend. Results too easily influenced.

2. Not exaggerating but Murph reminds me of Gablett Jr in his first year in the pocket for Geelong. Can outsmart, outplay, out think, and execute better than anyone around him, despite giving up height, weight, and experience. Watched him below me wait when most would play on until the perfect timing to hit Freddie lace out just as he passed between two doggies in a great position to kick for goal. Then that match winning effort with controlled ball use to guarantee the throw in, then position himself and excute a difficult match-sealing goal. This kid is going to be seriously good. Already is.

That is all until my cortisol levels return to normal.
The Dogs fans got screwed by the umpiring against the Pies and also lost so I think they had some sympathy for us.

It was as gutsy a win as I’ve seen from this team in a long time. Multiple mid-game injuries, umps being complete campaigners and an uncomfortable margin in the 4th that we held onto. It’s a type of game we’ve lost too many times in the past 2 years so big tick for getting the 4 points.

Cox, Ryan and Freddy who’ve all been out of form played well. Amiss had another quiet game but really stood up late, proving you don’t need to have a big game to have a big moment. They say you’re only as good as your weakest links and our weakest links in previous weeks all played their parts yesterday, which may have been the difference in the end.

That 2nd quarter was as good as we’ve looked all year - amazing what happens when you take the hand-breaks off and aren’t restricted by snails-pace ball movement. Typically we are a stoppage/clearance based team but some of our transition play was beautiful. I thought some bad habits crept back into our game in the 2nd half though.

The main concern for me is we spent all our tickets in the first half and went into save the game mode in the 2nd half, trying to defend a 5 goal lead for 2 quarters. 52/75 interchanges used by half time had to have been by design, and would explain playing an extra defender and Worner as the sub. It worked yesterday, partly due to individual brilliance but we were really at risk of being overrun again, especially with the injuries/lack of rotations/defence under the absolute pump. That approach is not sustainable long-term.

I don't understand the hate for Fred (last week in particular) is more where I am coming from rather than any big knock on Bolton. Just pointing out Shai is capable of some monumental clangers like the rest of them.

We didn’t use that many interchanges. The data source was incorrect.

Funnily enough, they never corrected it:

Yeah I have my doubts about both Darcy and Young coming in next week. No actual data other than a pretty quiet Peel game for both, I feel like they may spend another week in the WAFL.

I've already told some of the Supercoach boys just to keep an eye on the injury report, have the feeling Dogga and Noddy may not get up for next week.

Leaves us with no choice, if that happens, but to go with Reidy, who will be eaten alive by Nank. I reckon Raz gets another go at it, hopefully he can string a few together before Nat gets back up again.
I expected Voss to be eaten alive by English.

Of course Reidy wouldn't win against Nankervis, but structurally his job is to make a contest so our midfield have a chance.

That's exactly what Voss achieved.

All I was hoping was that Voss wouldn’t give away free kicks to English and he didn’t
Good role playing and well coached .

That's pretty much the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life. I love this guy.

One thing I didn't quite appreciate live was the initial change of direction when receiving the ball to set up the right angle for the baulk. Dude is running physics calculations instantaneously in his head.

Andrew Gaze said on the bounce after the match that Fremantle had the worst song in the comp 😂

I want a proper 'end of week analysis' show on a Sunday night than watching Dunstall, Gaze and the rest of them being buffoons, yelling slogans at YouTube clips. It is the most, obnoxious and tasteless "football" show and should be off the air. Can't think of anything worse on a what should be a relaxing end to the week.

Being forced to immediately watch it again?

My kids love bounce which is the show you hate so each to their own. Straight after is first crack and it’s very technical and boring but I recon you’ll love it. The only issue is that it involves David King but sometimes hearing him grind his teeth while commenting on Freo is fun to watch.

Is the Bounce actually a Football show? It strikes me as a mishmash of Memoirs of Funniest Home Videos (where do people get off on such watching such wanton hurt?) and another poor attempt at Top Gear where some of the behaviour between the hosts almost seems to explicitly encourage bullying.

Must say I like first crack, I don’t agree the tactics and strategies clubs are using is boring at all, I always have a look at their analysis of our games.

I can’t stand bounce, but maybe it is actually aimed at kids - that makes more sense.

Same, my son loves bounce. I'm more keen on first crack :)

Yeah I think both shows are aiming for very different audiences.

There is a large part of the fan base of AFL that is just looking for pure entertainment at the end of the day, an escape from normal life.

The interest in tactics and detail is for the poor deviants who waste far more of their time and brain cells in it, aka. us.
