Freo's one-way rivalry with Geelong.

Tried to ask this to Geelong supporters on our board, but it was swiftly deleted and i was directed to ask it here.

So i guess fans of all the other clubs can give their opinion too.

Do you find it a bit funny and maybe even a tad sad, Freo's rivalry with Geelong, which only seems to go one way? i.e. - Geelong just don't care for them.

Obviously they've been rubbish for pretty much ever, and as such have been beaten regularly by nearly all the teams. But it's losing to Geelong that gets them angry the most.

It's not just the fans either, Freo's players fire up and can't take it too, with at least one of their players reported in at least the last 3 matches, and scuffles regularly also.

Personally i think it's slightly humorous, the banter and aggression that comes from their side, but from our side it just seems to be a bit of an "Ahhh good old Freo!" and a bit of a smirk.

freo are a nothing team.. no one cares about them except west coast eagles, and even then eagles fans don't really care coz they no there got a better football club and have won premierships in there short history.. freo what do they have?? boats.

I agree...not a rivalry... more like rudderless and frustrated team desperately trying to make something of themselves (kind of like a failed actress that turned to hooking for a while, gets on the gear to take her mind off her trashyness, and swears to make good one day...) against their obvious betters... but they know they don't have the talent, just like their coach, and they decide they need to box on to "draw a line in the sand"...

It's just that Geelong is the best around and has been for long enough for Shemantle to make us their "mark" for now.

I can see it in 6 years when we're rebuilding and Shemantle are shit, again, that they'll set their thug guns on the next big team, maybe Essendon, Carlton or even Richmond (hehe, nah just kidding about Richmond)... their tactics will be the same, but they'll be on their 2nd coach after Harvey.

Hawthorn have this with the Cats. Geelong and their fans think we care when the reality is, we don't and just see them as a great team to play when the real stuff starts.

If the derby is Fremantle's grand final, then surely their games with Geelong are the preliminary finals.

I find it hilarious how they turn it on against the top teams, but a week later their intensity is gone and they're back in their 'losing culture' state of mind.

No he means Geelong seem to crave the acknowledgement that you have some mythical rivalry against a nobler side ...rather than just sucking up the truth that the Hawks were not better than you in a football sense - they just smashed you physically and you couldn't nor can you kick for *****.

Next season you will be talking up the Sainters or Dogs - Cats epic battle ....give it a few years and when your midtable ......the sound of the wind howling through the empty band wagons is all we will hear.

Footscray supporters seems to lack both "quality" & "quantity".
