Furies Eyes Challengers
By Terry Whittington
With the SFA in pre-season mode and scratch matches being arranged by competing teams, you will notice that the Fighting Furies are not competing - yet.
I caught up with Equus today to discuss the reason why the Furies are not yet competing in the scratch matches.
Good afternoon Equus. Before we start, I'd like to congratulate the Furies in a wonderful performance in the Grand Final.
Thank you, Mr Whittington
No, Call me Terry. First off, where have you guys been? It is awfully quiet from the Furies front with no recent press releases whatsoever.
Terry, We've been on holidays resting it up after an intensive season. We put a lot of effort into this season and we reaped the rewards with a Premiership. A lot of my team mates went overseas to Eastern Europe, exploring castles, saving damsels in distress and doing damage to their livers.
Would you say that the Furies are relaxed and taking a care free approach?
No I wouldn't Terry. Whilst the rest are overseas enjoying themselves, I've stayed behind to finish my exams as well as observing the scratch matches that are being held.
Isn't that a little bit boring staying here and watching the scratch matches?
No I don't think so Terry. Rather I think it'll give the team and I a good understanding of the premiership threats for next season. I see this as an opportunity to watch the winners and who to keep an eye out for.
So what have you observed so far?
Well, let's just say the Dragons are one hell of an active team at the moment. With Big Bad Buddy bringing in 9 new players into the game, you won't be too sure how the team will end up next season. One part of me says that their team is too young to make an impact next season but the other part of me says that their new found zeal and eagerness in the young'uns will make an impact. Regardless though, we don't consider them as a threat next season due to their choking ability.
The Gumbies, Hawks, Bombers will be a definite threat next season with quality recruits. The Mods will be an interesting team to watch and so will the Wonders.
And the new team?
I have no opinion of the Roys yet. Time will tell if they're any good or not. My bet is that they will stay around the bottom.
I noticed that you have not mentioned the Demons yet. Any reason why?
No. I just forgot that's all.
Well, after watching the various scratch matches around. What is your verdict of the quality of next season team?
Not as good as the Furies obviously. Their skill level is close to average, although it's preseason and most just came back from their holiday, but if the other teams think that they're a thread for the 2010 premiership, you're kidding yourself. The Furies are one step ahead of you guys and it is only a matter of time before the Furies set a new standard in Scratch Matches.
In this case, Why hasn't the Furies initiated any Scratch Matches?
Our leader in PHX is currently away with the other teammates in Eastern Europe training with the [strike]mercenarys[/strike] *ahem* sorry... the locals in how to farm.
Fair enough. Any last word before we finish up this interview?
Yeah. Underrate the Furies again and we'll tear you a new hole.
CARN THE FIGHTING FURIES!!!
