Oh no. Have you been watching? How has he looked so far? Stats look good
He was under immense pressure tbf and got pushed when he tried to kick across goal

He hasn't been close to BOG but he's been ok. Doing the things you'd expect from a half back - run and dash with solid ball use. Supporting defence ok too but his team has been under siege

He plays a bit like Daniel Riolilots of give and goes...but gees the Vic's are getting a touch up. Simply not playing to the conditions over handballing and inviting pressure and when they do go long they are getting out marked forward.
give and goes? 19 kicks and 8 handballs, a lot more going than giving!

I didn't see the game but topped metro's disposal getters and 4th most fantasy points on ground in a drubbing, have we pulled a top 10 pick out of nowhere with this kid?

Not top ten. Not if he stays at half back. He should have been given some time in the middle. Hopefully he gets some in the future

2nd round at best at this stage

Personally, I’d put on the anchors a tad. I’ve seen only little of him so I would put little on this post either.

Id be interested in his reputation for disposal. Lots of touches - 27, but at 59% disp efficiency and 3 contested out of 27. And that reflected what I saw. It could be an aberration. (Yes, I know that’s a lot of touches).

If people are ripping apart Windy on here at 21yo then I’d definitely put the anchors on 🤣.

We dont want him going too early in any event!

Be interested to see how he goes in the midfield or on a wing?

Dragons coaches have mentioned this (snippets from media not from what I have heard). I’ve never had the impression that he’s not the best kick. And, of course, they were smacked (something the Zebras know about and how it can make everyone on the losing team look worse than they were).

Wow those are some very handy stats. Very good signs.

He’s normally a really good user by foot. Hopefully they play him in the middle in the next game

Imagine if Salopek jnr is a gun. That was the pick we traded for big Bazza Brooks. Long bow possibly 😆, but probably only through time. Sounded like we were going to take him if we had the pick.

Or just blame Carlton - we would've taken him with our first pick if the Bluebaggers hadn't been penalised for their brown bag shenanigans.

So Arki Butler. What’s the go there.
Kicking and the way he moves reminds me so much of his granddad. If he’s available then I’d love to see us take him, if we don’t then I don’t want to hear anymore rubbish about father sons and romance blah blah.

If a young gun who’s grandad played in our only premiership and coached the club isn’t enough then I give up.

Some interesting quotes on Kye Fincher:

Some believe he could be a late first round or early second-round selection in an especially weak draft.

St Kilda does not have a second-round pick so would have to go into points deficit or trade in points for him if they chose to match any bid.

From Rob Harding (Sandy coach):
“Kye is a high level player. Clubs always ask where they think players will land draft-wise and it’s hard to know but he’s a really good running defender,” he said.
“He’s a good size at 186cm and he’s strong overhead. He’s just played well all year and he’s played good school footy at Brighton Grammar,” he said.
“St Kilda had access to Cam Mackenzie but lost him through rule changes but we have his younger brother Rowan as a bottom-ager this year so he might come through next year. St Kilda had access to Lennox Hofman who Geelong bid on and took, and we have his younger brother with us as well. So we have seven St Kilda NGA players on our Sandringham Dragons list out of 70 this year.”

What was the quirk??

What was the quirk??
"The quirky nature of the league’s academy rules are again in the spotlight after exciting draft prospect Kye Fincher was granted NGA status because he was born overseas while his mum was working abroad.

St Kilda has access to the in-form talent after he was born in Hong Kong when his mother was on a work secondment as a vet."

The original intent was presumably more about those who grew up overseas away from AFL rather than ex-pats or temporary overseas workers, but he's been with our academy since at least 2023 so we've put time, effort and resources in.

Salopek coming home to St Kilda was almost as comical as Lachie to join Mav and Armo to Queensland. This is going to add another layer onto that!

Why would they ad the last two. 7 and 8 touches isn’t showing much
I cropped out the other players and just focused on our NGA - since that's the thread
