Sounds promising:

The operation was slightly different to the reconstruction Fyfe had at the end of the 2011 season, with a piece of bone relocated to the front of the shoulder to stop it falling out of its socket.

"It's a little bit more serious, but hopefully a shorter recovery time," Fyfe said. "They reckon it's a lot more stable … and the doctor has had really good results with previous patients.

Great interview on the Freo website. Excellent questions were asked and Fyfe answered them superbly.

Sound's good. Glad he went this way, it wasn't going to get any better if he just battled away and could end up hurting us if he has to keep going off etc.

Round 18 will give him a few rounds to get ready for finals (if we make it) which would be ideal. No need to go earlier than that even if possible. That's not a bad prognosis all considered.

Have had the same op as Fyfe (a latarjet), definitely can see him coming back in 3months, will take time to rebuild the mobility but he should get back close to full range movement (90-95%).

Fingers crossed it works out, has been 2 years since mine and whilst I'm not a full time athlete I have had a few moments when I thought it'd pop out but didn't and each time it gave me a bit more confidence.

Rnd 18 is probably a bit soon since he has a history of shoulders, Id rather he takes some time off so that hes back fully fit next season. Theres no point in rushing players back in.
