Like what, they have a good young squad and the missing piece of the puzzle is a leader to continue on from The Champ that has led them for around a decade. So they dont have someone to take over from Riewoldt, who does?

Not all are fuelled by Money - At the end of the day - anyone that has played elite football can also identify that being the “Captain” is just a label. Team mates respect who they want to respect. There is no reason that Fyfe won’t stay with Freo.

The top of the list is Jack Martin, then David Swallow.

I think what has happened here is that we have front loaded the contracts to the new players so 2017 is a bit tight. Frees up the cash for 2018 where we have to be able to match Fyfe money.

Was thinking the same thing. Freo cleaning out some cash to match any offers for Fyfe. Even is we don't match in the end, his manager will know we can match and make whoever he goes to pay through-the-nose in picks and an decent player (ie not Dean Gore).

If the St Kilda scuttlebutt is true they already have 2 first round picks for 2017 (are they already planning the assault?) and a west aussie (Blake Acres). Puts them very well placed.

The extra cash can then be used on Jack Martin.

I wonder if Patrick Cripps would come home for $1m?
