Can FFC release him to provide extra commentary on other shows, speak at sponsorship functions? Will any arrangements like that need to be considered part of the total player payments for the club?

Will branding unavoidably linked to FFC be treated as club arranged third party deals?

Who has the rights to the image of Fyfe while he represents FFC at official events and are there salary cap implications should FFC be required to pay royalties via a sponsor for him to appear wearing FFC colours at their event?

Those implications won't change no matter which club he is at besides a BS AFL endorsed ambassador gig.

I don't think the CBA is the be all and end all. He's just holding out to keep his options open, same as Pav use to do.

I do believe that Fyfe at least can demand a level that not many blokes in the AFL can. If he is not Captain, I believe he will not be at Freo for 2018.

Game changer? Yep. Captain, and get on board the Fyfe elite program, or stay in the comfort zone. That is my take on things now. Ross the Boss has a difficult role in convincing the troops to a path of success too.

I agree with all you say apart from Fyfe leaving if he is not Captain. After such a huge change in the playing group, and with more to come, now is the time to put the broom through the leadership group and get the future leaders to the fore. Fyfe to replace Mundy and there are better options than Johnson and Sandy age wise. All three of Mundy, Johnson and Sandy could finish in the same year leaving a huge gap in the leadership group.

Fyfe already on the record as saying he expects to sign the contract by mid next year. Similar to the Lachie Neale situation. All indications are that he'll stay - but rumours he'll leave make better stories.

at least Carlton and the other teams will no longer need to build their "war chests" now that it's settled where Fyfe is going. Building a "war chest" seems like hard work.
