It's because we needed someone down there in the foward line that looked like taking a mark, or even someone that could take a mark.

jnr cant shake a decent tag......and until he can he will never become one of the comp's elite...which he is more than capable of doing.

It's a bit hard to shake a tag when your team is getting done by 100 points.

He still had 18-20 touches against the Saints and the numbe 1 tagger in the game.

He needs to just get on with it and not plead with the umpires for assistance.

It's a trap you can fall into when a player has as much talent as jnr, and when a team needs a score as much as Geelong have recently. it's the same thing that is happening at North with Shannon Grant.

Just because Ablett can take a mark and kick a goal (as well as crumb etc. etc.), i think we can get into a very bad habit if we force him out of the play like we have recently. This can waste his ability to influence a game, in a desperate hope he'll kick a few goals.

When you are 10 goals down at half time and the ball is going nowhere near the forward 50, it might be better to focus on getting the ball 'into' the 50, rather than condemning one of your best players to oblivion - asking him to finish off a move that never started.

I watched him to see if he would drop his bundle, like i believe he may have during the st kilda game, which was sad, but to his credit he ran all night, and showed he was willing to put up a fight.

he was beaten, but seeing as our delivery was so poor, that's not entirely his fault.

g ablett is one player who won't go down without a massive fight, and maybe he is the guy we should ask to do the hard work, because we know he will do everything he can to get the job done...

He simply shoulders too much of the load, and he has players all over him from the word go. He's still only 21 or 22 - the bloke has loads of improvement left. I just hope he's able to fully realise all that potential, and right now I don't think he's being given the chance.

Its easy.........if you are getting smashed in the middle, you put your best midfielders in there and pull the lousy ones out. Put Gaz in their to spark them up with chappy taking over as the small forward. If Ablett needs a rest, put Chappy in the guts. Get it in the forward line enought and eventually Henry, KK, Dog etc will put them on the board.

he is not getting tagged or beaten in games he is literally getting pushed, elbowed, held, punched, ridden into the ground.

when we played melbourne, his opponent could give to flying monkeys about the ball, he just shadowed junior giving him rib punches and elbows.

what he needs is protection from the bigger felines to give these buffoons what they deserve. even if a free kick is given make sure the opposition is so shook up that they wont go near junior again.

I heard on the radio that Gary was in doubt for this weeks game.
anyone know anything about this?!

ps.
i need to know in 10 seconds or i will explode.

DON'T FREAK IT'S OK!
He landed akwardly from a mark at training. His right to play this week apparently but went home from training early.

We've been saying this for a year now, and no one has stepped up to be a physical presence for us, or to protect him from being mauled every week. He's a strong little bugger but all that scragging is killing his effectiveness at times. I wish someone would stand up and dish out a couple of shirtfronts or something. I feel as though we're turning into handbaggers again.

S. Johnson should ride shotgun for him after his bump on Hamil. some of his desire might just rub off as well.

Great post. I hope we don't burn him a la Luke Ball (whether it is OP or not). I believe Gazza did have a bout with that ailment a few years ago???

Correct. From memory, his missed the first 4 rounds of our great 2004 season.

He seems to one of the few that has fully recovered from OP without a reoccurance.

Need to watch some Eagles games to see how they protect Judd. Very hard workers off the ball.
