Ratten needs to make a statement next week.. a few players are under performing and should be sent to the 2's for a wake up call!

vs WCE

In- Fisher Ellard Davies Hadley
Out- Lucas (inj) Murphy Walker (susp?) Scotland

Murphy tried harder than most in the second half. No chance of being dropped.

As I said before, I don't think it's a matter of endeavour. It goes deeper than that and thus dropping players isn't the answer.

Our problem is our transfer of the ball as well as our delivery inside 50. Teams are pushing numbers up the field slowing us up than rebounding far too easily when we turn it over because of those numbers.

Not sure why we're so reluctant to go through the corridor but I hate it. Need to get it in there quick and give our forwards every chance, even if it does mean risking the ball coming straight back over our head.

I'd bring in Fisher to give us another target up forward because we desperately need one. Ellard another who's more than earnt a game.

I think it's time to drop players we are carrying. We've done it with O'Hailpin and Thornton, we now need to do it with others and make a real statement.

Drop Gibbs and Murphy. wake up call this early in their careers will be good for them.

Condolences guys. Hard to see what's going wrong, your boys just don't seem to have any faith in your forward line to make things happen, and they should. A few bad umpiring decisions early didn't help your cause either, I have to admit.

To be honest, the way you guys were playing reminded me of how we were playing a few weeks back; some talent up forward, but no structure, no faith, no confidence. For us, moving Goodes into the middle and Shaw up forward seemed to give it that bit of a re-jig. Maybe you guys need to try something along similar lines, perhaps Garlett behind the ball, Gibbs up forward, that sort of thing. It's amazing what a bit of a shift like that can do. Suddenly kicks are hitting targets, room is available inside 50, crumbers are getting to the ball.

on a serious note, bring in Fisher. What have we got to lose? At least he can mark and score a goal from the goal square. Leave him in FF next week and let's see how we go.

In: Fisher.
Out: too many.

And the outs????

cheers mate,

while the ump's were bad they had no affect on the game as the harder team will always get the 50/50's.

Not sure what's wrong with him. Trying to create with his disposal but nothing coming off for him. Bewildering giving how clean he usually is.

The last month he has seemed to lose his composure also. Not sure what to do with him:confused: Maybe put him in the forward line (change it up maybe)

so just so I am clear
after today next week
Lucas injured Walker suspended
we drop army bower carrots gibbs hampson Hendo AJ Murph Scotland
wow

Wouldn't mind that at all. Think he needs to stop being asked to do a defensive job and play his natural game.

Perhaps as a high half forward rotating through the midfield.

Problem with our forward line and KPP are that we havent had consistency..waite suspended, setanta injured or dropped, same with hendo...kruezer was tried then injured...now we have hampson....i think we looked best with waite and setanta, but they need to play a few hames together again to make ut work.

And Betts needs to relax and remember he is a crummer, not a tall marking forward...today he went up too many times when he should have been front and centre waiting for it.

Walker won't get suspended, he slipped into him,
but the tribunal nowadays.....:eek::eek:

He was pretty ginger in the shoulder after the collision though.

yup, the one good thing about dropping under-performers is that you don't have to drop them all to improve the team (theoretically..). dropping a player such as gibbs surely sends a message to more players than just gibbs.
out: gibbs, lucas
in: ellard, ?

Bad luck guys. Must be frustrating for you lot to not perform to your full capabilities. I won't deny we got the rub of the green from the umps, but when your first to the ball like we were for the 1st half i guess that's the way it goes.

You lot'll be right. Best of luck next week.

some players react differently to being dropped though. mentally some players get shattered and they dont react good, play poorly in the 2s and it takes them a long time to get back that confidence.

others pull their fingers out, play great hard footy and return to the seniors and play great for many weeks.

one thing for sure is that the players performing well in the 2s should be given their reward. fisher, ellard etc...

On the Positives: I thought Grigg was good in parts and should stay in the team (I'm not a Grigg fan).

Hampson: showed something, very encouraging.
Sauce: OK
Waite: Tried hard.

Changes for WCE: IN: Fisher, Ellard, Warnock(deserves his spot)
OUT: Walker - looks lost, providing little dash and low on confidece
Scotland - like alot of our players struggled early when the
game was up for grabs
Henderson or Robinson: Both quite, but Robbo had more impact

Play Hampson Fwd for the game. FWD Line of Betts Hampson Fisher
Yarran Waite Gibbs

Joesph and Carrazzo are the two biggest liabilities in the team right now and have been for the last 6 weeks.

Time for Ellard and Davies to be given their opportunity.

Saw so many things today that made me realise just how far off the pace we are...i fear that losing culture of the early 2000's has crept its ugly head back in to Visy Park in the last couple of months and we don't have the mental strength nor ability to snuff it out.

Why does teams like Collingwood and Hawthorn consistently develop their players better than any others?
Harry O'Brien >>>>>> Paul Bower
Cyril Riloi >>>>>> Chris Yarran
Ryan Schoenmakers >>>>>>> Mark Austin
Steele Sidebottom >>>>>> Mitch Robinson

The other thing we've been showed up on is how weak we are physically, we must the easiest mob to play against...we are the softest, weakest, unphysical team in the comp in my opinion.

I could go and on...

probably keep garlett in that forward line and use yarran up the ground..we need someone with some silky skills further up the ground and he fits the bill.

true, but my idea of dropping gibbs is more to let the others know their name is no certainty on the team sheet. if one star player who is playing like gibbs is right now, gets shafted for a week or even 2-3 so that others will benefit, i'm all for it. if he's going to continue playing like he is now in the 2's, it hurts nobody (except the bullants).

Yarran makes too many bad decisions. We need to keep the aboriginal boys IN the forward line. Too many times this year one has been involved in a play around half back and not made it back in time. They need to stay in the forward line and stay further away from Waite/Hendo. They are hitting the contests too early.

Bower has played five games.

What has Schoenmakers done?

Kreuzer has developed more than Nathan Brown.

Murphy has been better than Thomas and Pendlebury, but looks short on fitness and run.

Yarran is a gun.

Austin hasn't even been on the park this year due to injury.

Robinson and Garlett have improved.

Gibbs mustn't be right.

That's the only reason why I can think he's struggled since his game against WC.

Setanta kicked five on Ben Reid.

Don't go on, you've said enough...
