I know he is a young player but he was very poor tonight. Didnt have a great deal of the ball but everytime he went near the ball he looked like he had just ran a marathon.

A couple of times he went back with the flight when he was a recieving a kick and a handball and both times took his eyes off the ball slightly because he thought there was contact coming and fumbled the ball. I know it might sound harsh but i was very frustrated with him tonight and noticed it more because i was barracking heavily for freo and at times he coffed it up at crutial stages

Yep, coughed it up twice during Freo's last run for goal before Hawthorn sealed the match. It must be very frustrating as a Freo supporter to see efforts like that.

I snorted out my coffe this morning when i read Robert Walls latest collumn on the Dockers, he sung praise for Ibbotson, Hinkley and Suban.

Hinkley has done nothing to earn his spot or retain it, Suban plays far to "outside" for a 180cm midfielder, his well built so he should be looking to get amoungst it. Ibbotson is the best of these three and has has been decent this year. Drafted in 05 so you would expect slightly higher output from him.

Ibbotson is a latecomr to AFL, still learning the game. He's been handed important jobs with the loss of Palmer and Crowley. Some he's done well, like Judd last week, some he's struggled. Fremantle's senior players struggle with consistency, so it should be no surprise that their younger players do as well.

I agree totally about Hinkley i cant see to much in him but i dont agree with you about Suban. I havent seen to much of him so i dont know how hard he is at this level but ive seen him at tac level and he is as hard as nails. Needs to transfer it into the afl because he is a hard player

Yes, but you are fast becoming the most anti-Freo poster on these boards... and you claim Duffield was a 1st round draft pick when he is an elevated rookie.

And Suban is a first year player who has hardly been near the midfield and has put his body on the line every single time he has gone out there... all 8 times so far.

You know little to nothing about Freo that doesn't come blinded by your hatred.

Suban's massive weakness is his disposal. 25% efficiency tonight, 36% last week. With most teams averaging somewhere in the 70+% range, he needs to work hard on this aspect of his game.

I would love for Fremantle to win a flag. But when you win three games and everyone jumps on a badwagon i was really annoyed at all the leeching that Lyon and now Walls have done. Build up expectations when none should exist.

As for Ibbotson he was draft in 2005 bottom aged, even if he is "new" to aussie rules some of his mistakes where bad for a fourth year midfielder. But like i said already, Ibbotson has been decent in 2009.

Ill stand by my comments about Suban though, his physcially well built and should get more game time through the middle.

Just because ive not bought into the hype around Fremantles medium term prospects over the next three four years does not mean im a Fremantle "hater".

I don't reckon it is his skills, bar the two misses. Because most of his kicks are beauties off the boot. But they don't go off to our advantage. He seems to rush himself, so If he realized there is more time he could go out on the park and use his raking left boot kick to our advantage.

Agree. He just played his 8th afl game. It will come with more experience.

I think the most all AFL clubs can ask of their players is for them to improve as each year goes by, especially in the younger players.

Ibbotson had a fantastic year last year in a poor team. He just hasn't improved or backed up his efforts from 2008. Plenty of time though.

He did pretty well on one of your ex captains last week against Carlton. Personally I think he will be a very good player, not a world beater by any stretch. Clubs need Ibbotsons, Grovers etc on their list. There just isn't enough A graders to fill every spot.
