Most people know one thing about him away from football.

Now think for a moment about the sheer volume of footballers who have probably been in a situation similar that involves alcohol or gear, where in theory something could have ended in fatality, but hasn’t. Hell, half the singers I worship died because they got a bit too pissed.

It wasn't just that he got p1ssed/smashed, and you know that. His actions directly led to the death of an infatuated teenager who idolized him. I think that sets him apart from the "sheer volume of footballers" who have been p1ssed/smashed.

It doesn’t make what happened to Alisha Horan right. Nothing will, obviously. But people battle demons mate, they make mistakes. Cousins is making them every time he opens his eyes. Jesse Hogan on a lower scale is making them.

It doesn’t make them evil, malicious or malevolent. It makes them weak or irresponsible at any given time. It makes them a dick head. It doesn’t make them an evil human or a monster.

People do make mistakes, you're right. Even the most serious of mistakes can generally be forgiven if a person cops their right whack and are genuinely contrite (and make amends, to the best of their ability). I don't think GAS ticks any of those two boxes.

I can’t soeak for him, I’ve never met him, but I would imagine it would be something that haunts him on a regular basis.
