I can tell you I've rolled my ankle exactly like Ablett multiple times and been fine after 5 days...

I can tell you that I twisted my ankle badly (and knee at the same time, although it wasnt as bad) and I was walking with a noticable limp for 3 months. I could not run properly for that time.

Exactly. So every situation has a different outcome.

Sometimes it's extremely painful initially and then fine after 1-2weeks...

Or ever so slight but you are ****ed for 2-3months.

Do they still use hyperbaric chambers to help players recover? I've still got the paper from Grand Final Day 1995 and there's a pic of Fraser Brown in the chamber wearing an 'astonaut' suit trying to get himself right during the week...

Yes but the Geelong medicos are not real keen on it.

Yeah, I can imagine they might have some side-effects. They raise/lower the air pressure inside the chamber, don't they? Could cause blood clots and whatnot if a patient got unlucky.

LOL...... sorry dont want to sound mean.....But the chamber is no differant from going diving :thumbsu:

I just think the Dr's finaly think it a fair amont bullshit, also the nearest Chamber is at the Alfred in Melbourne.

Gaz would be doing some light upper body weights and spending a fair amont of time in the spa :)

Nah, you don't sound mean mate. Just sound like a bloke who knows more about it than me:thumbsu: Shoulda realised google was my friend and checked shit out first, but couldn't be arsed...

I might sneak a few frothies in at the Royal before the Hawthorn match (assuming a mate of mine comes through for me). What are your thoughts for a pre/post-match pissup?

i can just tell you that i was playing football a few weeks ago and i tore ligaments and tendons in my ankle- the exact same injury as ablett and it was a 6 week injury.

must know Gazza really well then. If you know anything about injuries what looks identical doesn't necessarily equate to the same damage. plus we are are all very different when it comes to recovery.
They are sayig Gazza's injury concerns his foot more than the actual ankle, o structual damage Gazza is just being ultra cautious when it comes to recovery. If you know you are not going to play (gainst the bulldogs) why not keep weight of the foot for the maximum time possible?
If he doesn't play this week I would expect him to play the week after.
