GC Pick

I'm not good at working out our trade that we made with GC, I've never really quite understood it. Is the above good, bad or nothing in terms of our pick?

We used to have Adelaide's compensation pick (Bock), which is taken at the end of round 1. We traded that pick to Gold Coast for pick 26 this year, as well as the Port Adelaide compensation pick (Krakouer), which is taken immediately after Port's 2nd round pick.

Port are probably going to do shit next year, so I assume we're going to activate the pick for the 2012 draft. As such, we went down about 5-10 spots in the 2012 draft, and got pick 26 this year for our troubles.

Gold Coast basically gave us an end of 1st round pick for upgrading their pick 5-6 places as port will most likely finish bottom 4 in 2012

We will end up getting a player like Grigg,Mackworth,Downie for free and also upgraded our 2nd round pick we gave up for Maric.

Richmond also did very well with picking up Morris for a 1 spot down grade my only dissapointment was that we could of possibly included Saad in that deal as we really need a small foward & he would of fitted in extremely well at punt road.

We may have had trouble getting that signed off by the AFL. My understanding is that each deal must be signed off by the AFL as a fair trade for both teams. Morris plus Saad for exchange of 1 place in the draft order may have been pushing it.

Doubt we could have gotten Saad thrown in as well. GWS did us a huge favour in that deal already. They upgraded a pick 5 spots for 2 players. Doubt we were willing to do that. Would have been like trading our now pick 15 for 2 players and pick 20.

Also whose to know that we didnt ask and get rejected. We will never know.
