They want 11 home games at their home ground. It seems the Cats want 9 at home and 2 in Melb to reward their Melb members. Welcome to Etihad.
No we've said we want 11 at KP.

But if we played in geelong we wouldn't be geelong. It's like saying if that square wasnt a square but instead was a ball then it would be round like all the other balls.Geelong are just a unique team as they are the only regional based club. Im sure if we were a melbourne based team we would play our games at etihad and be almost broke like 3 or 4 other teams
Hahahahaha
So you think the AFL arent interested in the 20 Million that dont live in Vic, you have no idea do you!

We want all 11 at Geelong, problem is the AFL say we must have a certain amount in Melbourne. We prefer MCG over Etihad as the best of a shitty situation, but we don't ask for MCG over Kardinia Park.
Pretty much.Well in that case you should get your wish and leave the MCG and Jihad as away games. AFL is just ridiculous with their uneven playing field - they really can't get anything right it seems.
Not sure you understand the argument here marty, though that in itself is no real surprise.
I mean, why should West Coast, Freo, Adelaide etc all get 11 home games at their home grounds, and not only 7 or 8, and then play the remaining 3 or 4 at Etihad to help the AFL keep up their end of the deal?
How does playing a Melbourne side on the MCG not disadvantage us the same as Adelaide playing a Melbourne side on the MCG? Both teams travel about an hour to get there. That was dribble? But wanting us to come play home games at Etihad wasn't. You were offering one extreme view, I offered an opposing extreme view. Like most things probably a middle ground will be found.
You are the only Vic side with a true home ground advantage. You would have to be pretty blind to not see the advantage you would have over other Vic sides if you played 11 games in Geelong but had nothing taken away to oppose that.
I could go further than that for being erroneous.Your argument is flawed. Under that scenario all our home games are against teams an hour down the road whilst all your home games are against teams from interstate. Ie. We have the same disadvantage as you do on away trips but not the same advantage you do on home games. Think again.

You are asking why the AFL dont take home games off West Coast and adelaide and non Vic clubs, you do realise 20 Million live outside of Vic where the market for AFL can be expanded. Why the F would they bring those games into Vic and not try and grow the pie? Its not about bloody ethiad when it comes to Non Victorian clubs its about market share!
And I dont understand?
What is the population of Geelong? 200,000 MMMMM
So because we stayed true to our roots and invested in our own stadium as to not be the AFL's marquee tenant of Etihad we should either lump it with 7-8 home games or be slugged for the privilege of having our full compliment of 11 home games. That was dribble? But wanting us to come play home games at Etihad wasn't. You were offering one extreme view, I offered an opposing extreme view. Like most things probably a middle ground will be found.

They'd bring them to Vic because they need to make up a number of games at Etihad marty.
This isn't an existential "grow the game" debate, it's about why some teams get 11 home games, and some get 7 or 8.
Nope. I think you guys should host North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium next year, help the AFL fulfill it's quota. How does that sound? Not Quite, Adelaide players probs 20 minutes to the airport half an hour wait prior to boarding over an hour flight the collect bags then airport to the city fair to say 2 to 3 hour excersize
It would take Patrick nearly that time from his home to the MCGNot Quite, Adelaide players probs 20 minutes to the airport half an hour wait prior to boarding over an hour flight the collect bags then airport to the city fair to say 2 to 3 hour excersize

Hey Geelong, you can have our tarps![]()

Is this Geelong's way of dodging their equalisation tax ?
It's funny how many clubs have been crying poor ever since the AFL announced they would tax the rich and give to the needy.
hear the Ox on SEN a few weeks back. said it takes him 20 minutes to fly from Barwon Heads airport to Launceston. It would take Patrick nearly that time from his home to the MCG![]()
