Good win by the Cats.

Scarlett is the best full back in the competition by a country mile.

Already looking forward to next weeks semi... is Kane Tenace a chance to debut against us?

Probably not, given Gary Jnr. is likely to come in (assuming he got through todays VFL game).

Definitely looking forward to the match, already got my fingers crossed that Brad Miller again gets Matt McCarthy. ;)

Were there any of Carlton's younger players that caught your eye today? I expected a loss, so I'm not really troubled about today. Good luck with the rest of your Wizrd Cup campaign.

Scarlett will get AA honours, that Playfair player looked alright, and yes, plays fair.

What Carlton young players are you wanting to know about ?
Apart from Irish, aren't all the rest rejects ?

Thronton, Waite and Fisher certainly aren't rejects from other clubs. It's a pity Justin Davies or McCormick didn't have a go, they need more game time and are better than Clarke and Bannister.

The kid wearing 10, from Hawthorn looked alright.

Your tall defenders tried damn hard, just far too small.

I'd only consider Thonton as a tall defender. I have no idea why Sporn was playing against Kingsley, he's no where near a KKP but rather a half back flanker or midfielder. I reckon it will be the smaller/quicker forwards and crumbers who will hurt us more than the big forwards. Mainly due to lack of speed - the midfield must support the backline if it is not to be overwhelmed.

What we need is a big CHB with a good physical presence. Whitnall should stay at CHF, I think it's time for a Karl Norman or Callan Beasy to step up. And a ruckman - Mott should be playing alongside French for the moment.

I don't really see where Mott will help.

You need rucking help around the ground, and given Mott's weight and lack of fitness, he'd get rings run around him.

Have to disagree. If Kingsley, Haynes, McCarthy and Playfair can dominate your defenders like they did today, than any forward line can.

All our forwards were inconsistent, however when they were on song, they tore your defenders apart in marking contests.

Was men against boys.

That's what people said last year, and it was the smaller players who troubled us more (also consider that our defenders were less bulky too). ;)

Both Thornton and Norman are capable enough, but aside from that, we really have no one to throw their weight around down there. With Mott, his fitness has the capacity to improve and working with French will be better than with just one genuine ruckman. I wouldn't expect Nott to run around much, but if he can use his weight to crash through opponents while giving smaller midfielders the chance that I guess that'll do. A wait and see proposition, but mobility, rather then strength will hurt us more IMO.

Matt (Mcarthey) looked very shakey with his first few kicks at goal but he found some confidence later in the game and to my mind looked much more impressive when he was kicking the ball.

Like the commentators said he kicking action is still fairly awkward. but as long as he puts them thru the middle who gives a rats

From the time he slotted that 40 metre one from near the boundary he was spot on. I like the kid.
