The crazy thing is the AFL have spent multiple millions sleazing up to western Sydney while letting Queensland teams rot on the vine. We have put a lot of money into them and now just lost interest. I personally think Brisbane and GC have more chance of attracting fans in the short and long term and getting basic facilities training grounds and stadia up to standard is a no brainer. I remember friends who got into the Storm were impressed by the professionalism and quality of the club to attract them .

We have the most compromised competition after the Globetrotter league.

The Lions deserve a PP at #1 if only to prevent those cheating campaigners from Methy Hill from getting their filthy hands on it.

I would have thought that Ratten would have been a better choice for Brisbane. Presuming he would want the job.

He took a rabble into a more respectable position and has had experience under arguably the greatest coach of all time.

The last time bomber was involved in a football club it was one of the biggest stuff ups in afl history, orchestrated by blokes he had worked with at Geelong.

Would be blight all over again. Or mm at Carlton.

Think the afl will intervene at some stage and put up some cash for senior positions up there, like they did at melbourne.

I'm not keen on giving Brissie a priority pick until they fix their facilities as the players walk once their contracts are done otherwise. The only thing I would say is they should suspend Essendon from the first round and give pick one to them. Essendon are artificially down due to their own cheating and will actually get a huge boost from it. That's one of the most blatantly stupid things the AFL have done to expose their griminess.

I think Freo have no option as they signed up ross for 5 years so have to keep him, Sumach would have got the shove and made his own way out. The Dogs are an odd organisation and nothing but disfunction seems to come from behind the scenes.

sumich left because ross is a prick to work with, just like the other assistant coaches who have left freo. they eventually have enough of him

the straw that broke the camels back, was ross removing sumich from game day coaching if he was to stay on next year

he's also starting to throw the assistant coaches under the bus. a good upcoming assistant like webb is apparently in strife and rumor has it he will be sacked

ross has approached schofield to join freo, only for schofield to reject his offer. he like a number of people in the industry know what he's like. just too many bodies on the floor. career suicide

Not sure how to post this, but someone sent me a very interesting article today from a site called "The Arc. Footy,graphed."

Apparently this weekend, Joel Selwood broke the all time free kick record in the AFL since recording started in 1990.
587 frees from 222 games at an average of 2.6 per game!!! ( Apparently ducking DOES pay dividends)
He broke Scott West's record of 584 from 324 games.
A bit of mid-week trivia.

Wednesday rub on MMM today on the ride home, "can you remember a team as bad as Brisbane are?" as if us and the 80's never happened, wasn't a thing, all that merger talk in the 90's and the inability to pay players was a figment of our imaginations, we can wake up now because the industry have forgotten it because recently, someone else wasn't as bad as 30 years ago.

...makes me feel old that I remember some of it.

There was a deadline for these sorts of things though so I can understand the decisions given that for those who will play finals there will be discussions and prep work in the backend, so this enables the clubs to cover or bring someone in at the beginning and lead in. Rather than what we had in some assistants leaving during finals.

Odd would be arguably what clubs they come from, as despite Ross being a hard taskmaster, Sumich has been the name dropped over west for someone that wants to be a senior coach, and Montgomery is a son of the west and intrinsically tied to the Dogs as a club, for him to seek other opportunities within the industry hints at something sinister.
