It's a strange one. I used to absolutely love our song, thought it was hands down the best. Saints go marching in!

Yet only recently It's dawned on me how bloody simplistic it is. Wouldn't mind just one verse. Something. It's all chorus!

Has my musical palette developed too much for my own good?

Need we bring Milney back into the fold just to add that lil extra spice and maybe a 'yeeha' or two??
I know what you mean mate. like I love our song and after a big win there's nothing better. but just little things, like you said, makes the song

Dogs - SOOOOOOOOOOOOONS OOOOOF THE WEST. WOOOOOOOOOOOH. REEEEED WHIIIITE AND BLUE. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

even the Blues song at the start. DA DA DA DA DA

I'm not putting down our song or anything, I still love it (even as how simplistic it is) but some more feeling in it would be awesome!

I've gotta get it out....Bont > Billings and Caleb > Lonie really giving me the shits. I hope our boys get all the premierships medals in the end.

They have such an even spread of soldiers. We seem to have a few very good then a lot developing. Hopefully we get a couple of boys step up another level next year. Daniel is probably more like Gresham as he's more a mid option than Lonie. Bont is probably always going to be a better than Billings but he's looking like he might be elite. If Jack can be a very good player it doesn't matter. They have drafted and developed remarkably well, we have traded in really well. I'm feeling pretty positive still. We probably have less in the way of good mids and runners they have less quality in their KPs.

Good ol Clarko, gracious in defeat...
"We had 104 tackles, 104! And how many frees for holding the ball? 3!"
Welcome to the real world Clarko.

Hawks were great over the past five years but I don't think there are too many unhappy to see the beginnings of their demise.

They've got Cloke for two years...

True, maybe not the best look, but he also has a point. Getting rewarded for 1 in every 35 tackles. That is pretty crazy.

Possibly. But it's irony at its finest considering they have had the rub of the green with the umpires for years. He was fairly gracious before that, considering he would have been very disappointed and it was good to see him congratulating Bevo as well.

100%

Reflecting on it now, deeply. Few wines in ;)

This realisation has slowly dawned in the years post-tiprat, since the baton has been passed on to stuv.

Tries his best and has definitely picked up his game but proof is in the pudding. Never had a problem with it when Milney was heaving up his passion/guts and spitting saints bars all over the circle. Need a passionate to a fault, down n dirty bastard larrikin campaigner leading the chorus!

Could ol m8 Carlisle be the people's hero?

I would love the WB to win it. Firstly no supporter under the age of 70 can probably remember their last win. It would be great for those supporters. Also it gives hope to the poorer clubs and lastly Bevo is a great bloke and they are a great family so it would great for all of them. Great coaching and great recruiting can overcome many things. Hopefully we also have done or have both. And I reckon it would give our players hope if they won. Go WB.

Was Bevo ever considered as a Saints coach anywhere in the scheme of things? I hope Richo is looking at some of the smart play that Bevo has incorporated into the Dogs team, plus the manic ground level work of their mids..makes our guys look like slow-drying cement in clearance work.

they are too much like us to lie them. We are both underdog teams and I recon this is going to be the last time for a few ears with such an easy run. The Cats and Hawks don't look like they are as strong for the first time in a decade and the Giants are not quite arrived. Any one can win it this year.

Yes fancy liking a team like our team. Better to hope the Hawks won last night. The team that we played in 1971 when we both had one flag and now they have about 13. I have no idea if its an easy year to win all I know is I would rather them win than any other side left and by a fair margin.

Yet we beat them pointlessly about 6 weeks ago.

The Dogs started to rebuild 2 years before us & have drafted very well. We're not too far behind them despite their head start.

I don't know about ancient history but the Dogs fans are ****ed, possibly the worst in the AFL these days. We are both competitive with each other because we are both insecure loser teams. If they win one they are ahead of us on the premiership ladder, that leaves us exposed as the super loser club with 1 premiership in 160 years or what ever it is. I hope they lose next week.

Who gives a crap about what other clubs think of our poor record. Its already worse then the dogs because they have 28 years less in the comp. As for their supporters well I never notice that about any supporters of any clubs. I'm to busy watching the game. And wouldn't it be great if GWS won next week. The club you have had a go at many times. Yes lets watch them win and win and win so we aren't jealous of the success of the bulldogs.

GWS are going to win plenty no matter what. It's like being the smallest kid in the school yard, you don't hope the second smallest kid has a growth spurt.

Have to say watching the game last night, it gave me a lot of hope for the Saints going forward. I could really see us going well in a tough final like that. Obviously we need to keep improving but I don't think we are miles off that standard and have already beaten good sides.

Our game style is built for finals. Pressure and attacking football. Never say die attitude (55 point comeback last year 35 point come back last year, Sandringhams many comebacks). I reckon we'll go alright when the time comes. If we get in next year we probably lose our first final but look out after that!

Contested ball is my only worry for now. We're putrid whereas both the Dogs and Giants are exceptional. Dogs just showed what they do to really bad contested ball teams, you never get the ball.

But I agree with W2L, they're two years ahead in their rebuild so we've got time. We badly need some A grade mids though, hopefully we've got a few we don't even know about yet!

Would love to see Daniel McKenzie, Brandon White and Jimmy Webster transform themselves into tough skilful midfielders who are hungry for the contest.

Not that far a bridge to cross really.
