Collingwood got some seriously good youth coming through on display tonight.. Degoey is going to be a star.. Adams. Elliot. Crisp. Langdon. + Seedsman. Sharenberg. Freeman. Moore.. They've done very well these last few off seasons. Have used the compensation system to their advantage.

Are you serious? "so much better" ??? haha you have lost the plot mate. Explain to me how our team in '09 '10 is SO MUCH BETTER than this Freo team.

Yes, our top 6-10 players were better than their current top 6-10, but an AFL team has 22 players in the squad if you didn't know, and they have a much better overall squad than we did in our premiership contending years.

Our bottom 6 players at the time ('09): Raph Clarke, Zac Dawson, Andrew McQualter, Jason Blake (love the guy, loved his versatility, but at that time, was no where close to the years in his prime), Clinton Jones (although he was a great tagger, probably in our bottom 6 players at the time), and maybe Baker (since he was in his last years also).

And let's not forget our GF squad in 2010: Add Robert Eddy and Brett Peake to that list.

If we didn't have Ross Lyon coaching us in those years, we would have found it hard to even contend in my opinion. You can't win a premiership with those players at the time.

I am going to say it. The Pies and the E -girls are the real deal.The Pies are a legitimate threat for next years flag.
They still have three top 10 draft picks who havent played a single game yet. I think there is a top 5 sides and then daylight 6th.

Dawson is now in that team blake was great at his role baker and jones were great taggers back then the others are crap but in my opinion our 09 10 would beat the dockers of now easily

Their half back flankers are not skilful. They do not hurt the opposition. I actually think it's a pressing need they will need to address ASAP more so than the older players

I don't think you can fault many players from our 2009 team. 2010 we had a lot of passengers but that 2009 team won 19 games in a row and pushed one of the greatest teams ever in a GF. Don't think this Freo team comes close to that.

Think you're being a bit harsh on Ibbotson and Spurr, Ibbotson in particular I thought was good last night, but the others I agree with.

It looked to me last night that way too much was left to players like Sandilands, Fyfe and Walters. I think our 2009 team was a fair bit better than this Freo team.

Did I miss something or is it just me who thinks it's weird to see Dank banned for life for "attempting to traffic hexarelin to third parties, namely to Essendon athletes and support persons of the club and assisting, encouraging and aiding, abetting and covering up use of the drug contrary to the anti-doping code" while Essendon players were cleared of any breach of anti doping rules due to lack of evidence.

And yes, I saw that he was cleared of administering thymosin beta 4 to Essendon players - but that makes this whole saga even more absurd, doesn't it ?

Oh dear, do we really have to abuse these players after all this time ? And note that Geelong had players like Blake, Byrnes, Mooney or Harley in the 2009 GF - and Collingwood players like Maxwell, Toovey, Harry O, Dawes, Goldsack, Brown or Macaffer...

We had a great team back in those days coached by one of the best AFL coaches of the modern era. We may not have a trophy for it, but we got really really close and I for one can say that I enjoyed those years - and envy the Dockers who may finally win their flag this year, be it with 'role players' or not.
