Sorry guys, going overseas. Why am I sorry you ask?

Because every time I go overseas and we play the Hawks whilst I'm away, we get flogged.
I truly suspect it's not linked. Every time I wear clothes to a Hawks Dees match we get flogged - but I'm not changing my approach just in case of some cosmic link.

I'm worried that we could be in a for a bit shock about our form. I'll be very very happy hoping to be proven wrong, but so far:
  • We 'got lucky' by playing Collingwood and Richmond when they were down (but are now coming back into form)
  • We beat GWS by playing two quarters of footy and being 'lucky' that they kicked poorly for goal
  • We had very very bad losses to Essendon and StKilda
  • Our other wins have been against shit teams
We also had had a very very healthy list this year which will surely end eventually.

On our form and opposition... our next 4 games will be losses too (HAW/COLL/SYD/ADE).

Hmmm

I think we CAN beat Haw/Coll/Ade.

Not saying that we WILL.

Still think we could beat Richmond again easily, where a chance to take the pies again too.
Essendon was poor, But we really need to stop underrating St Kilda, they're about level with us and only one quarter cost us that game. you could argue one quarter really cost us yesterday too

Yeah, you certainly aren't wrong, but to look at our season to date that way, would be to completely under value the type of footy we've been playing (when we're actually playing well) There is a reason we've been getting so much positive press this season, because we're playing a really good brand of footy when its working, and we've been playing some very exciting kids. Unfortunately, this kids is a large contributor as to why we can't string more good games together. Our best can challenge most teams this year, but our worst leaves a lot to be desired, that's a hallmark of both a young team, and a second 3rd (on the ladder) team

Reckon the Ox makes a good point. We need to start playing more experienced players. Start with Dunn and Dawes. We had 12 under 50 games v Power and 14 v Lions. We can't expect to beat top sides with this little experience in the team. Saying that I want Oliver straight back in.
Most of the bottom sides have around 8 under 50 gamers in most weeks.

Yeah we are incredibly young this year and I don't think the media appreciates this enough... we've improved despite being less experienced.

We really have improved. Average close to 6 goals a week more. Need to continue to work on defence.
If you look at a team like Carlton who have looked OK they have a fair bit of experience compared to us.

If we take it up to Hawthorn/ Sydney and threaten to beat them I see that as improvement. We might still lose by 40+ like Brisbane did on Saturday but if we are competitive that is improvement.

However, every time Hawthorn score it seems like its out the back so I can see a potentially very ugly performance on the cards this week.

There is no universe in which we beat Hawthorn, nor one in which we get within 10 goals of them*

*
there is however a universe where Matt Jones is captain coach and our best and fairest medal is called "the Weetra"
