More as in he was pick two and we don't even think about him.
I'm glad though, definitely doesn't deserve to be treated as a failed top pick in the same way that Morton, Gysberts, Watts, and Cook are.

If Trengove comes back anywhere near fully fit, it will be like trading in a right-footed Tyson for free.
Trengove was a better rounder mid than Tyson though I reckon. Much better defensive workrate, much better overhead mark, and much better disposal. Tyson has better hands in close and is more explosive on the outside though. At any rate I'll be glad if Trengove can come back at a Jordie McKenzie level, let alone his best self.

We're improving, but looking at our side on the weekend, we still have a longggg way to go.

The following players won't play in a finals team at Melbourne:

Jack Fitzpatrick
Matt Jones
Rohan Bail
Jack Watts

These guys have big question marks:

Jeremy Howe
Jake Spencer (He is only here because our ruck depth is THAT shit)
Jimmy Toumpas (I want him to succeed so badly but jury still out)

That isn't who could play in a premiership side, that is who could play in a FINALS side. Until we get these guys out of our team, we are still a long way off. There is also a bunch of guys in the VFL who are no chance. That sounds bleak, but since we're coming from a team that had about 3-4 players that could play finals for us, it has improved a lot and will continue to do so.

You're being pretty polite to Jimmy Toumpas there.

As much as I'm a skeptic of toumpas

Mitch Morton an Steven Armstrong won flags

Look at Sydney's 2005 flag-winning side. Amon Buchanan, Paul Bevan, Nic Fosdike, Luke Ablett, a host of players not much better than that and a few genuinely good players.

As much as I hate the use of it you just need reliable role players to allow the stars to do their job

For instance pedo providing a strong contest means that hogan can be one out because despite not having all the talent in the world pedo will hurt you if you don't try and stop him

Probably the Brisbane Lions team from the early 2000s in recent history is the only side who had champions in every position

We have the role players we just need the guys who win you games

I dunno. Looking at the lineups for the WEagles and the Swans, 2004-2006 was that window between Brisbane being excellent and Geelong coming up where some teams who weren't as impressive had a few years to burgle some Premierships.

So is Roos back to blaming the past whenever we fade out? Surely he has played that card enough by now?
Question is, which who are the players fading out and who is he going to move on?

Outside of Jack of course. Ie is Dunn, Garland, Howe, Grimes, Fitz etc on the chopping block as well, just how far has the cancer spread I guess...

Cam Mooney on SEN talking about how he likes fans booing former players. Referencing Griffen and then spoke about Colbert.

Noted it, and I'll wait for the potential hypocrisy after our game against the Cats... Although being in Geelong will muffle the boos for the campaigner.

As will being out with injury

It's hard to tell who he is referencing, even Nath Jones has dropped his head in the past, but you'd figure it has to be relatively long term players
He singled out Garlands performance as a positive and i think gave him a vote after the port game.

Maybe thats just his way of saying Jack Watts is mentally ruined beyond redemption

Nathan Jones has been embarrassing at times this year. Completely disappeared on Saturday when things got tough.
You'd sort of figure he has to be carrying something, but he's played so well at times then completely dropped off at others. Was completely outplayed by Boak after 1/4 time. He's having his worst year in quite some time

I'm really hoping we can pick up 4 or 5 the likes of Vandenberg,
Seems when the opposition gets the run on, we need the 4 or 5 to be naturally disciplined/competitive and revert to the team thing and dig in. It needs to be the natural response.Because if leaders like Dunne are getting so selfish when the shizen hits the fan its not good? He needs to lead!
4 or 5 will cover those weak links that just let us down.

With Petracca to come (no pressure) and Hogan and a few others I dont think we need big names.
This year is 1st for Nate Jones's fades. He's missed a match conditioned Jack Viney imo.
Probably say the same for Garlo, I saw him as one of our rocks but this year not so sure.

What I've noticed about Cam Mooney in his commentary is he loves a band wagon, he will say anything if there is something in it for him. Doesnt seem to be a D's fan.
