So is Roos back to blaming the past whenever we fade out? Surely he has played that card enough by now?

That annoyed me last night to be honest. He has to put that line away now - he's had 2 trade periods, 2 drafts, 2 preseasons and a season and a half of footy with this team now.

There were 3 reasons we were rubbish on Saturday;

1) players effort fell away (this is on the players).

2) we didn't enact a decent strategy when the tide started turning/turned (on the coaches).

3) not enough quality midfielders on the list yet (I don't blame anyone currently at the club for this).

I don't expect him to talk about the third point in public, but items 1 and 2 don't have anything to do with the past anymore, and it just comes across as copping out when he refers to 2 or 3 years ago.

Have to do whatever it takes to get Terlich, M Jones, Bail and McKenzie off the list at the end of the year. Jayden Hunt will almost definitely be delisted. I'd be surprised if Howe is still on there. Watts can G&GF, I've had enough. Grimes needs to keep up his recent form or he'll be traded. Dawes is getting paid way too much, but I'd be happy to keep paying him if it means another club takes him. Not sure if Jamar sticks around either, he's been near useless in 2015.

That's at least 6 empty spaces on the list, potentially 10. Need to try and turn our first three draft picks into 5 or so players (pick 2 = Tyson + Salem and pick 23 = Frost, ANB, McDonald type deals). Turn Howe, Watts, Grimes, and Dawes into some number of late first/second/early third rounders too. Try to trade these for hard at the ball types.

I think Howe is still a good to player, just having a crap year. nether the less he would either walk (which is possible this year) or we trade him rather than out right delisted, he'd be worth a bit i reckon

He's not FA, has to be traded.

I'd get rid of Howe if anyone is daft enough to throw anything in the top 25 or 30 picks at us. Luxury type player who seems to be phoning it in thus far this year.

Can't see anyone being stupid enough to want Dawes. If we're incredibly lucky, Carlton's next coach will be a complete nonce and Daisy will put in a good word for Gumby Hands. I think we'd be lucky to get more than a 3rd rounder for Watts - he's had too long in the system and shown very little to be worth a decent pick.

I'd keep Grimes. Hopefully the more football he gets this year, the better he'll be. I think he's been handy since he's come back into the side.

I'd burn Matt Jones at the stake as an offering to whatever gods will protect the Hulk from injury / being poached by another club. If that's not possible, then maybe just burn him to save on the heating bill over winter.

If they lose Henderson which looks likely to Geelong, dont be surprised if they look at someone like him.
Us actually pulling the trigger on any semi half reasonable offer is the issue though. Like i have said earlier, id take a mid to late third rounder for him so long as the club who takes him pays some of his salary for us next year. Dont know if Roos would though.

Howe, yep, he's mentally checked out, the only times he has played decent this year is when we have won, had his down hill ski boots on from Round 1, i hope he had signed that 650K contract with someone already though. He isn't worth even half that on current form, id gladly let him walk if he wants more than 300k a year from us.

Ooooo, I hope they consider Mitch's feelings before trading him in.

Yep. With delistings, retirements and maybe one or two guys walking, we'll have another 10 fresh faces in next season. Keeps things interesting I guess.

He's already been slotted in for a backline I'm hearing as a replacement for Lonergan and or Rivers.

Lonergan I guess, but you'd think Henderson would still get swung forward more often than not. Nothing wrong with the way Rivers is playing that shows any indication that he needs replacing or is going to pull the pin.

Yea, handy replacement for when Clark or Hawkins are out as well, could be handy when you want to go really against a team at the Dome as well.

This is what Dave Misson had to say about the fact that Chris Dawes wont be playing on QB because of his calf injury:
"We just want to give him a chance to get rid of it totally, so he can get back that explosiveness and marking power. We think another week off would be good for that"
So there you go, that is what the problem has been, he has been trying to mark with his elbows, when all along he should have been using his calves! Thank god, problem solved, look out!! o_O

Doesn't explain his marking, no sir. but might explain his sluggish movement at least

I think being non-athletic and 105 odd kgs explains his sluggish movement.

I hate to be this guy but both Howe and Watts spent the majority of pre-season in rehab.

Whatever anyone says it's not easy to do well with no base.

7 years and counting with no base!

Yes, please make as many snide remarks as possible.

It's productive, I'll give you that. Can't keep making excuses for him though. He's not the only one who missed a chunk of preseason, and even so, debatable whether it's an excuse for a lot of forgettable performances.

Tyson did too, didn't he? Vince had an interrupted preseason, and it took him a while to get going.

Neither was leg related though was it? They still got all their running in.

Anyway 9 rounds in and everyone should be up to speed by now.

I think Howes just in a bit of a form slump.

..and I think Watts is just soft.

Vince has been in our best for the last few weeks at least. I wasn't just talking about at our club; I'm sure there are plenty of examples of players who have had interrupted pre-seasons who have been consistent contributors to the team, if not excellent.

Watts was a groin, Howe might have been shoulder and hammy?

Both have been our most disappointing players this year - also two of our most talented unfortunately.

I notice that after seven weeks listed as '4-6 weeks', Frost's prognosis has finally changed. To '6 weeks'.

I'm not questioning the medical staff but surely if his toe is seriously injured then they should have just listed him as 'Indefinite'. What's the point of these injury lists when they're not transparent. They did the same thing with Hogan last year.

Dear MFC,

Hasn't Kent been 4-6 away for 3-4 weeks too?
