Id like to know where i can find which players improved the most last year whether it be by money or point avg?

and

Also how many and which rookies started in round 1 last year? and played enough games in a row (maybe missed one or so) up until round 8 or say? or something similar

Try FFGenie with all the data up to and including round 23.
You can then do a search for the players that gained the most value, it should then make it easy to sift out what you are looking for.

I built my own spreadsheet from dreamstats data - I couldn't find it either? it gets real interesting when you look at rolling ave's over the last month.

So there's not going to be a rolling lockout like in supercoach. Does this mean we will be locked out after the Crows-Bombers game in round 1? Surely for split rounds or Thursday night games they'll leave it as it is?

Some rounds will have a partial lockout.

Question 2. Are there any changes to AFL substitution/interchange rules this year that might influence DT? In some posts there's been suggestions of less player turnover during matches but I can't figure out why.

No, it will reopen after the Sunday night match of the 1st week of round 1.

not that i'm aware of - i think there's a general swell that rotations will be capped at some stage though

I think the reasoning behind capping interchanges is to keep the star players on the field for a longer period of time along with slowing the game down, bringing in more contests (although they seem to do their best to avoid congested footy as well) and hopefully stop as many high collisions.

Basically the rules committee just wants to feel special and keep adding new things to show off their power.

Thankfully we won't have to worry about any of that for the 2013 season at least.

Pretty sure rotations are capped to around 84 a match.
