Plenty of Gen Yuseless here. There's a real despise movement at the moment against Gen Y. Everyone thinks you're all f***ing useless. The most hated demographic in the history of the world.
Is it true?

You won't be paying for mine so don't let it get to you.You wont think we are so Yuseless when our taxes are paying for your pension.

No one has really defended themselves here? Don't worry about what I'm saying, worry about the perception. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "Generation Y bother?" before.
What is it about Gen Y that is causing all the hate?
In every generation you get old people who think the young generation is good for nothing. It's normal. But this time round it's far more widespread and the hate is stronger. Why is this?
My Personal View:
Are Gen Y useless? Yes. More so than previous generations.
How do you know? How do you know it isn't you who is just getting old? I've carefully considered this, but there's just too much evidence. I was aware when I was young that we didn't have the same work ethic as older people, and that we wanted everything for nothing, and that we were brash and arrogant. Par for the course really.
I think the main cause is technology. Every generation have more knowledge, and maybe Gen Y has the biggest increase of knowledge through the huge spike in accessible information. But the problem is you can't get work ethic and experience off the internet.
The common complaints I hear are "Don't want to work hard", "Want everything for nothing", "Think they know it all", "Try to take short cuts that are great in theory but in reality don't work". I have a friend who is the national recruiter for a retail chain. Five years ago people spent 2-4 years at every job. Now she is seeing an awful lot of Gen Y-bother with 6 months here, 6 months there, and then they are applying for senior positions. And allegedly when they are at these positions they are just passing time until they get a promotion. Apparently there is a distinct lack of "I'm inexperienced, must pay my dues, must work my arse off to get good at what I do".
I'm not saying "back in my day", I'm saying "Five years ago".
I'm not saying "Todays youth are f***heads, they should be forced to do national service", I'm just saying "Today's youth are f***heads".
Suicide rate amongst youth has fallen drastically recently. You c-nuts can't even get that right. Yuseless.Suicide isn't the answer to your problems.
You're sort of proving my (and everyone else's) point. Interesting to note you're not in the age bracket I'm referring to.Why concern yourself with other peoples affairs?
I'm too busy snappin' necks and cashin' cheques to give a flying **** what the generation below me does. Maybe when I'm some old, irrelevant dick with nothing better to do I'll start bitching, moaning and writing letters to the local paper.
I never even knew which Gen I was part of until this thread. I always assumed I was gen x, then I checked the cut off dates and it turns out I'm gen y.
Fck u OP.
Thankfully my kids will miss Gen Yuseless. There will be a correction. It's not conceivable for society to up the anti on 6-month job stays. If in 5 years the norm becomes 1 month, I'll shoot myself. Thankfully I'm not Gen Y so won't f*** it up.The reason why Gen Y is "yuseless" is probably because Gen X sucks at being parents.

Same- though growing up as a Gen Xer- I always though we were the most despised of the generations.
I wonder how long it's gunna take for the gen Yers to follow suit, get old before their time and start shaking their fists at the young whippersnappers!
