if we dont get him now as our coach next year we may not ever see the great man at the club ever again. if richmond appoint him and hes a success it could be a opportunity lost.act now before someone else does.

i dont agree with the posters saying if he gets a job elsewhere he will be back at the pies anyway. It wont be the case, its eitheir get him now while we have a strong chance to get him, or risk not getting him and losing him to a tigers or port.
I can see it now , the bad image in my head of him holding the cup up in a few years with cotchin and the pies not even making the 8 lol.
Bucks > Pies
Malthouse > Tigers
Weve stuffed up with not being able to lure "big named players" to the club, not getting bucks will be a big mistake. Malthouse has had his time, as much as i like him the games passed him by like a 35 year old player who cant keep up with the pace of the game.

It's the old "last chance sale" gimmick.
Here is how it is in reality.
If Bucks goes elsewhere as an assistant or a senior coach and does not eventually come back to Collingwood, then he was not the man for the job in the first place...NO?
He is either Collingwood through and through and the answer or he is not.
You can't have it both ways.
He either lives for Collingwood or he doesn't.
If he does then we have nothing to worry about because he will be Coaching at Collingwood very soon.

I understand what you are saying, you are correct. If he gets an assistants job elsewhere , then yeah there is a chance he may be back at the pies in the near future.
I dont however believe he is the wrong man for the job if he doesnt get it at the pies next year, i think the balls in collingwoods court on whether he coaches us next year or not, its not his decision to be coaching the pies its more a case of whether they will persist with mick for another year or two and then have the risk of bucks being elsewhere already or even at worse choco being somewhere else too, another good candidate for the pies senior coach imo.
Hes stated hes ready to coach next year and wants a job in coaching next year, its a no brainer to chase him now. That was the point i was making , i cant see him being a senior coach and coming back to the pies within five years. Assistants job maybe there is a slight chance he will come back.
Its not a case of whether hes collingwood through and through and if he is, he will be at the pies regardless. Its not the brisbane pies scenario from his playing days.
I can't name a single established coach who is available that is any better then MM and unfortunately Bucks has no form

Agree partly, if we're going to stay with an experienced coach it might as well be Mick. However, he has major weaknesses and I don't think we'll ever be the best team under Mick.
Also agree that Bucks has no form. Another thing that worries me about handing the reins over to Bucks is that he expected a lot, almost too much, from his teammates when he was playing (he did get better as his captaincy wore on). This trait does not translate well to coaching. However, there is another recently retired Collingwood captain that strikes me as a great chocie for captaincy. He was as Collingwood as they come. He was signed as an assistant coach merely 12 days after announcing his retirement, both a testament to his coaching ability and his desire to coach at an AFL club one day (I hope). He was a very smart footballer, also tough and uncomprimising. His name is Sir Scott Burns and is hopefully the next coach of the CFC (wouldn't mind Buckley though).
I agree and why some people think MM deserves to be sacked for the sake of getting Buckley is something I cannot comprehend.
If MM walks then it is time he thinks someone else should take the reins.. while he has the desire to bring on these young kids he is developing the above quote applies
