Caro was absolutely nailed it with that article.

The last paragraph is the most poignant, there is no doubting what he has done for the club but Eddie by virtue of his own ego blindedly thinks he is the only one who can do the job and is effectively putting himself over and above what is in the best interest of Collingwood Football Club.Caro was absolutely nailed it with that article.
A lot of Vics have backed him over the years even though he shits on their clubs. Gutless bunch of toadies IMHO.Is there anyone in Australia who isn't a Collingwood supporter who isn't thoroughly enjoying this slow capitulation?

She's a great reporter, albeit a little bit bitchy and venomous on occasions. Caro and Emma Quayle would have to be among the best of them.Caro was absolutely nailed it with that article.
A little off topic here but did anyone else notice Blairs awarded goal clearly hitting the post in the highlight footage?Bump.
Caro, calling it as is. And once again emarrassing the sycophants.

He lasted in that job a little over a year. He had very little idea on what did and didn't work from an audiences perspective causing ratings to drop, in general was a poor manager and he also treated his staff like crap and they either couldn't work with him or hated working with him.Does anyone recall what happened to Eddie with CH9? It was mentioned in the Caro article but I really wasn't paying attention to what happened to Eddie when he was in Sydney.

Essentially Ch9 was bought out by equity investors. They demaded rationisation and results and Eddie failed to deliver.
Eddie sacked about 100 people. But everything he touched turned to mud. He sacked Jana Wendt which caused public outcry and resulted in the Sunday show being cancelled altogether.
Meanwhile, word started leaking out that Eddie was demonstrating bully boy tactics around the office, telling people to eat s**t sandwiches (his erudite way of suggesting talent take a paycut), ponced about bragging about boning (sacking) others.
The Sydney executives became very uneasy. He was writing memos asking for more people to be sacked than were on the books in some divisions which brought up issues of competence.
Meanwhile he was never at his desk. He was constantly stepping back into productions to go on air (footy show World Cup trip) etc
But all that is fine. His worst sin was ch9 lost the ratings battle with ch7 for the first time. So he was given his marching orders and a $4m golden handshake.
Quality effort.
I for one tried to show some compassion and posted the following on the Collingwood boardIs there anyone in Australia who isn't a Collingwood supporter who isn't thoroughly enjoying this slow capitulation?

UhmmmmHe manipulates them into thinking he's on their side by being against the evil QLD and NSW franchises. Eddie wants a strong VFL as long as it's him at the top standing on their heads.
He's a classic schoolyard bully who's happy for his sidekicks to help him hold someone down but he still wants credit for the fight. He's truly the most disgusting person in football and I can't wait to see him fall on his own sword.
Although, I am in no rush for him to fall on his sword. He has categorically stuffed the Pies for the foreseeable future and that is a gift that will keep on giving.
And then he was thrown out of the city ... and we all breathed a sigh of relief. He lasted in that job a little over a year. He had very little idea on what did and didn't work from an audiences perspective causing ratings to drop, in general was a poor manager and he also treated his staff like crap and they either couldn't work with him or hated working with him.
So I check out the news and am greeted with this:
"EDDIE McGuire says he never seriously questioned his future at Collingwood, but now he has threatened to walk away if the AFL doesn’t make big changes.
McGuire re-iterated the AFL’s policy of equalisation — which included the introduction of a soft cap for total non-player football department spending and a luxury tax — designed to create a more even competition must be scrapped."
So Basically he ran an Equalisation Committee and the only recommendations it made that actually had anything to do with Equalisation (you know, levelling the playing field between the rich clubs and the poor clubs), he now wants scrapped. And he wants it scrapped because it affects his own club.
And people keep saying he loves the game for some reason?
As I see it, history pretty clearly shows that he crusaded against the Salary Cap concessions for Brisbane only because they beat his team in a Grand Final, and then he crusaded against the COLa and the Academy system because we beat his team in a Prelim, and then recruited Tippo the same year.
He muscled his way onto the Committee just to screw it around into a lets destroy Sydney's list build Committee.
He really is the most disappointing leader the AFL has ever had. All that power, all he should have been able to do for our code, simply abused.
I liked Paul Williams as a player
Davis is a toss , remember the day he got his car got repo from the pines footy club lol
He never went back
Never meet a guy so full of himself , pretty much said he won the flag in 05
Prelim but GF didn't get a kick , 06 he played okHe kinda did
