I want to become a member but I don't want a crap seat. That will put me off big time and it will be the shortest membership in history.

I assume that new members get the worst seats. And that when decent seats become available, they go to existing members, so only crap seats are there for newbies. Is that right?

So, how do I get (two) decent seats? I'm completely ignorant on this topic. Would love some wisdom from you guys.

cheers

First off. Join the waiting list.

Then, just hope a seat becomes available that you like.

Depends on how many seats together you are looking for. When I joined I got centre wing 10 rows back at AAMI. I onyl had 2 seats but there was one free next to me.

If you are only after one seat then you should be ok. Most members just hold their existing seats and dont look for new ones (the whole rusted on thing). It would be general admission members looking to upgrade that you would most likely be up against.

I'm assuming that we will have 3000 to 5000 on the waiting list for next year, as no one predicted such massive crowd's this season.

Put your name on the list and buy daily tickets in different areas next year to see where you like to sit.

Pretty sure we will have 99-100% renewal rate for memberships in 2015, especially with all the hype around AO and Phil Walsh.

Depends how much $ you want to spend too. You could potentially get a seat in the legends stands which usually have good views of the entire ground, but they're usually $600 odd for the year.

Just to clarify this, when on the waiting list but unsuccessful in being offered season tickets, you will have a bronze membership for the year?

What exactly is a bronze membership (nothing on the afc site ATM). Do you get first access to buying tickets before they are open to the public? Are the tickets the same price as non members?

Having sat up there for a game I can say there isn't the best atmosphere.

Become a Victorian Member - we get the best seats in the house at the G when only 20000 people turn up!

I still get pretty good seats rocking up game day and buying general admission at the gate :thumbsu:

one day hopefully when I have a bit more income and can justify it, I'll get a Vic-Crows membership...

there isn't much difference. family ticket we save about $20 over the 5 or so games. just that nice warm fuzzy feeling of being on the books as a member

I think I've looked into it and it's way cheaper for me just to buy (concession) general admission at the gate on the day rather than buy a membership for the year..
.
mostly because I've yet to get to every Melbourne Crows' game in one season because I often work/gig/play footy on days that Adelaide play here...

Great that you are going to join the strength. :) I suggest you contact Ms Fardone at the Crows. She's the most helpful person I have met and she handles membership.

Is one of those questions the answer to my question?

Sounds like you want a seat not ga.
Hill is awesome atmosphere and viewing position though.
Non western stand is all reserved seating. Ring club to discuss options.
Western stand is your typical members - as opposed to season ticket holder.
There are reserved and non reserved options there.
If you go non reserved that will give you greatest chance to get a seat you most prefer.
If you get there as gates open...

Again ring club to discuss options.

Thanks. That is good advice. Standing is not an option for me due to health.
