Hello and welcome to the longest running weekly episodic television show in SFA history, GFW!

My guest tonight has been making all the right noises as of late and is arguably the "in form poster" right now. Joint Mobbs Medallist last year, a vital part of the Gumbies line up and has taken his own game to a new level this year. Please welcome Claypigeon!

Cheers Mr Sanchez, was wondering how many times I had to give your posts the thumbs up and link you into random convos before I'd get a look in. For the record I lost count at 42.

Well you’re here and that’s all that matters now. Let's start tonight with that prestigious honor. Mobbs Meddallist. Was a close count and a few were surprised when you took it home at the end of the night. Safe to say your finest achievement in the SFA to date?

My finest achievement is probably being a part of an Origin win in my first series with Vic Country, thanks ClarkeM and finishing joint runner up to WAG in the EKA was up there as well. Lets also not forget the elevation into the Gumbies leadership group but then that could have been a case of last man standing, at least according to some.

You're right though, it was an honour to take home the Mobbs Medal but not for the reasons some may think. The best part was being able to take home an award named after the guy that recruited me to the SFA. Must admit I would have been nervous toward the end of the count as Eth hunted down my lead, if I'd turned up on time.
You were recruited by Mobbs? Now that is a feather in the cap? How did that come to be?
Well, I'd like to think Mobbenfuhrer head hunted me directly even though he really just made a guest appearance at VFL/AFL club Carlton with an exhibition game. Notes were passed though and he directed me to the sign up thread, so I'm happy to say he recruited me and I think he acknowledges this. After that Itsmyshow took me under his wing and the rest is possibly part of a future memoir.

Well they certainly are some high profile names to take you through the ropes. But when looking at your career so far, "high profile" is not really term that comes to mind. In fact you'd go as far as to say that your severely underrated. Internally the Gumbies are well aware of how valuable you are, but do you think the SFA are ungrateful for Clay? Why do you think you don't get the recognition you deserve?

Probably because I don't really go looking for it. Happy to influence decisions and enjoy the banter and who doesn't want to be liked. For me, you earn your stripes and you don't weaken your personal resolve to achieve it. The brightest candles burn the fastest is a valid phrase. Speaking of which did I get enough clichés in there?

Well that's your last warning, anymore and I'll cut you off, but for now continue.

Well in reality, it really is about having something to pass the time and enjoying the personalities. Not one to follow the flock and prefer to find my own feet. By the way, when I say IMS took me under his wing, it was very much in a reluctant Doctor Cox sort of way.

A Scrubs reference? Intriguing. And really despite those high-profile names when talking about underrated people in the leauge, yours always seems to be brought up. In a way your almost like Kade Simpson, you finally received recognition by everybody realising how underrated you were. Have you started to see a change in people's mindsets?

Never really counted myself underrated, certainly wasn't overrated, although some suggested it when my name was announced as a runner up in the EKA.

Wasn't very active outside of the game related stuff and still a little selective in this area. Others might like to head down to the local and dribble on about this that or the other but I'll sit back watch the tape and plan for the next week with the Gumbies leadership group and then crack out the beers and have a laugh with the lads from the other clubs once the work is done.

In my short time in the league have seen some come in and allow others to feed them their own bath water. It doesn't last and then they find themselves lost as to where to go next. Don't get me wrong, it is nice to see your name recognised but its good to know you've earned that respect too and not had it handed to you.

You mention how you're a little selective when it comes to your interaction around the leauge. This year we've seen you take a bigger step forward in that area. Alot of good reads have been from your media work on the Gumbys. You've also dipped your toes into golf to further broaden your SFA horizons. Have you sensed that you've opened yourself up more in these areas this season? Do you think now the recognition and respect you have within the Gumby camp is now held league wide because of this step up in work load around the SFA which you've taken on?

Prefer broadening the appeal of what the SFA is here for and that is fantasy football. As part of that, like to respect my role as a SFA player and now leader of the Gumbies. Still enjoy reading some of the non league related stuff but its not the purpose of the league. Found it refreshing this season that the spam has taken a back seat to league related articles and as I think of ways to contribute, I will.

As for the respect, do get a sense of it but some of it I've assumed was always there. Contributing more to the league has presented myself and by extension the Gumbies in a good light and happy to take some recognition from that.

As for the golf, that part is easy and thanks to RoaringUniLions for coming up with the idea. You cannot have footy without Golf to wind down and when you hit the ball as well as I do it satiates the competitive streak that I have. Suffer from white-line fever and liken myself to a Mitch Robinson type role on the field and enjoy the crash and bash parts of the game as much as the goals.

One of things IMS said in his interview with me was that it's just as important for players to promote there teams, not just themselves. You are one player who I instantly think of when I hear talk about the Gumbys. I mean you only need to look at your sig where it says Gumbies four times. Is this part of IMS "mentor" role that you've taken this on? Or is it more that the Gumbies are won of the "lower profile" teams, and you have the burden of getting the Gumby message out there.

IMS is a great example of someone that builds the league from his team out and probably, at least subconsciously, it does influence my way of thinking and where the respect for him comes from. The Gumbies do cop a lot and we deserved it early on but it does drive you to want to be a part of lifting the teams profile. That Filthy Sanchez guy probably did a similar thing for the Furies by helping BILC bring them out of the shadows of Richmond and into the league. beez and Mobbs are others that prides themselves on keeping their teams strong. That is some good company to be in, if that is how I'm seen. Don't under estimate the value of having someone like StFly helping out too.

I'm sorry but we'll have to leave it at that. Don't go anywhere folks, after a few short messages we'll be back with more of Clay's nonsensical ramblings.

You want fresh new faces on GFW?? You've got it! GreatBradScott has taken the SFA by storm. Filthy Sanchez goes one on one to see if he is the real deal, or just another flash in the pan.

GreatBradScott looks confused as Chez brings way too many microphones to the interview. Meanwhile the zooming feature is still malfunctioning from the last interview with Clay.

Welcome back muchachos! We'll get straight back into it now right where we left off, which was Clay bringing up how important a guy like StFly is for the Gumbies. Just on Streets, I see he's been helping out on the wiki job. The Gumbies page is looking very professional at the moment with history and everything while the Furies still say that "we're still spitting chips over BBB." I must say though your page certainly did go into alot of season by season detail. A rompingwins job by any chance?

That Cooper guy is a good friend of mine and likes to pump up my tires from time to time, no romingwins here. Streets does a good job and a heap for the Gumbies, was delighted when he took on the role of Captain last year, thoroughly deserved. He also was doing a lot on the Wiki page before it was popular to do so, was glad to help out. You Furies just need some more tech savvy fans to get on and add to your page, I hear Hamish is looking for something new to stick his teeth into. Have you checked out the Furious Dynasty page, it needs some work but I like the section titles.

I'm not done with you yet streets, when I was last on the fabulous Wiki it did say "Stfly recently edited stfly's page." Come on mate? Not a youtube account or anything for you to fall back on? Rompingwins would be dissapointed in you.

But seriously, the Gumbies may be making more noise off the field but on the field it's the same old story. I remember when I first joined the Furies the first 6 games of my career were losses and my first win was one of my highlights. What was it like to finally get that first win against not just anyone, but the reigning premiers in a nail biting finish.

A bit of a relief to be honest, was starting to fear that we'd do a Furies, circa Season 13 and just keep falling short. Was great to get a win over the Bombers, was a great match and the pre-game banter was some of the best I've had. Beez has really instilled a quality approach in his players and banter doesn't have to be spiteful although a good bit of argy bargy doesn't go a stray now and then.

It's become a very fine line hasn't it? There isn't much difference between meaningless filler conversation, "good banter" and crossing the line into knob territory when you start breaking conduct rules. How well do you think the players and admins are handling this at the moment? Do think now more than ever, an active leader like beez or streets is critical to a teams' success of bantering in the spirit of the game?

For sure, leadership that shows the right way is a good thing. We have a mix of ages on here though and youth has been the folly of greater people in history. Young, dumb and full of something that is too often joked about sometimes. Most of the captains lead by example when it comes to mature quality posting though.

Now on this show clay I occaisonally throw out some wacky ideas, some times they're so crazy people actually get behind them. One of them was that the bottom 4 teams should battle it out to have the GF played on their home ground. The teams should put forward their case including what pre game entertainment will be had and what flavour they can add to the most exciting game on the SFA calendar. Since the Gumbies are most certainly bound for another bottom 4 season. Is it something you'd get behind or is just too much effort for people who don't care when they're teams not playing.
What kind of battle we talking about? ..

What is that, oh sorry yeah I'll leave the questions to you, sorry. Anyway, if it was debate then Streets would win that in a canter, how can you respond to something you struggle to comprehend. Pete would take care of most in a staring contest, it's not inactivity, the guy is just staring the opposition down while the rest of us go to work. I'm sure Lion Cub 16 would make a good tag team partner if we wrestle for the rights, as long as you have a bad day.

The way I see it, once you're out of the premiership race it is time to hang up the boots, grab your drink of choice and hurl abuse at the opposition. We should just have a Mecca ground that gets the Grand Final each year, I hear that Princes and Kadinia Park are free that time of year but forget those boutique stadiums. The Gravel Pit at Queenstown Oval, Tassie is the ground where the final should be played, make it happen boncer34

Hmm, maybe a bit of miscommunication on that one,

No miscommunication Filth, just like a good tangent is all. Still think Queenstown Oval would make a good addition to the fantasy final.

Yes well the point is you come on my show and you reject my fantastic ideas. I'll try be professional and try to move on to something more in your area of expertise - tagging. Ever since the new layout you've been a perennial tagger. I've never been so popular! Are you enjoying the new layout? Some people think the like button stops people from commenting on good threads, how do you think people are handleing the change?

Maybe I do tag over much but when talking about someone it is polite to let them know so they can respond if necessary. Plus it is great for drawing someones attention to get some extra banter. Also like that you don't need to quote a massive post to let someone know your response is for you.

As for the like, was a little iffy to begin with as it is a bit empty however since getting used to it, I found it a good way to acknowledge, back up or even encourage someone's effort and it is no worse than responding with a queue eff tee or a thumbs up. Think of it as a smile, a high five or a nod when your mate or opponent says something worth while.

And it seems to be going a long way. We crossed swords earlier in the year and you admittedly caught me a bit off guard. It was one of my more enjoyable battles this season. Funnily enough you got stuck into me for spending too much time with Wise Guy Sam instead of dukeing it out with the Gumbies, little did you know at the time we were working on the first installment of this groundbreaking show of which you now appear on tonight. How did you see that match unfold? It was another one of those cases where the Gumbies showed up and had some fight, but still went unrewarded when it came to the match.

You caught me off a guard a little actually, called you out to warm into some banter and you gave me both barrels. Took a step back and then thought, game on, was a memorable lead up to a match. Can see how my comments about Sam could throw you though.

The Gumbies are getting a heap out on the training track this year and its not helping our chances. Club is going from strength to strength at the moment and we're hoping to start translating that into consistent on field performances, not looking good though.

We've mentioned a few of the changes at the Gumbies as you look to get back to the top. I noticed pre-season there was a bit of advertising on the Geelong board to join the team. How strong is the Geelong culture down at Gumbyland? As an outsider and relatively new player I thought it wasn't relevant at all since one of there brightest stars is a Carlton supporter. What's your take on it all?

We have evolved away from our Geelong roots and its very multi-cultural down at Gumbieland these days. We cannot get away from it completely, it's the heritage of the team. At some stage the club might evolve away again but happy to pay homage to the teams original flavour, helps that I don't mind Geelong. The mix of teams and the Geelong connection is the reason I chose them over some other traditionally inspired monikers.

Also, Pete did plenty of work advertising across the board, he post other places but the connection makes Geelong an obvious point to do that. Like to think his effort also helped create interest for other teams.

Yes and that's what we want, eight viable teams in the SFA. However perhaps they're too viable. I mean we've seen people start to complain that there are too many media articles floating around. Is it really a problem? Or is it just that it's the same people going overkill with the articles? What's your take on all this? Should I be blamed for doing a 1000 word+ weekly piece for the SFA?

Seems ok to me, if there is room for the spam-fests like SFA Club Survivor then there is room for on topic Media articles. The quality is quite high at the moment as well and that is what really counts. As for Gee Eff Double-ya, you'll probably get a TL
C:\Users\TAF\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif
R from peanuts like Juggalo Balla but he'll get over it. .. maybe. You should interview some more interesting people after this one though, think I saw someone nod-off in the front row earlier.

Criticising your own interview? I think you've overstayed your welcome. But before I let you go we have one more formality. It's time to induct another member into the Filthy Society.

In what was a relatively uneventful week the Furies had the displeasure of going up against the Hawks. Sadly the boys weren't given the chance to jostle with boncer and IMS took more of a backseat leaving most of the posting falling to HurleyGun.

I didn't have too much of a problem with that as the underrated HawkPatrol did fine, it was after the game when Hurley gave us these nuggets of gold that the game picked up. When it was sugested that TTG play FF next week this is was his response.

Yeah sure, use other people (inactives) other than a proper FF in me, never mind
C:\Users\TAF\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif

Tru dat! time for massive positional changes for the next loss ahem match ...

Seriously, why do the Hawks bother this guy if he's just gonig to pick fights with his own team?? Out of all this I must tip my sombrero to IMS after he totally overlooked Jobe for the FF position and offered it to Biggie instead. He's a great leader but really needs to give Jobe a clip behind the ears over this one. Jobe's improved but not enough to escape induction into the Filthy Society.

Clay, I now give you the honours.

Dirty++ . .. Not sure he deserves to be amongst the filthy elite. ..

Wow...a Dirty rating? My producers never told me the guests were ACTUALLY allowed to give that ruling...I’m speechless... Well anyway folks that’s all we’ve got for you tonight. Let’s give a “dirty” thankyou to Claypigeon everyone.

No probs mate, been a pleasure to be a guest on Getting Filthy With. .. Me :)

Be sure to tune in next week for the Great Brad Scott! Until then, Adios!

I had not edited a wikia before, figured instead of screwing around and someone else getting pissy I'd romp the winning, jerk the circles and then start editing the wikia.

If you were quick you'll actually notice I first goofed monumentally and put my page as the opening page for the player category. But since it was an easy fix it never happened, honest to goodness. :D

You've come along in leaps and bounds, though Streets. :)

But srs, these threads don't get the credit they deserve. Best wall of text I've seen. Even has pretty colours.
