5000IU is good for people who train.

When I first got sick and I had blood tests, I was pretty low. So my specialist suggested two servings of D3 a week at 35000IU each for an initial boost. Apparently it works better than a steady amount of a 7 day period. It seemed to work for me. I did that for two months.
Thats very interesting, must look into it.

Olive leaf extract

this man speaks the truth. the greatest secret on the planet. you will live to 100. take 5-10ml everyday, take with juice (1/6 glass) mixed if you can handle the taste, unfortunately it is probably the worst tasting thing on the planet.

i suggest doing some research on it, my old man has been taking it every day for 20 years and has had about 3 colds since, and those colds were piss weak. has a whole lot of other benefits other than immune system too. avoiding as much sugar as possible is key since sugar feeds bacteria (health 101 im sure you already know).

Poor immune system from poor diet relating to poor gut flora.

Supplements are just baindaid effects, you need to strengthen your immune system more permed tally so it's not so sensitive to the common cold n flu getting around.

Processed foods suppress your immune system.

I never get sick & im exposed to the public as much as anybody.

Don't underestimate the power of good nutrition.

There's a difference between being exposed to the public and being exposed to some one the sickest/roughest individuals the city has to offer.

I eat better than 90% of the population and have never had issues until beginning this job.

Yeah but 90% of people eat absolute crap so it wouldn't take much to eat better than them.
I've worked with the homeless & the very unhigeine type in the mental health industry, it can be unpleasant at times!

Apple cider vinegar is good for immunity & grass fed butter containing A , K & D.
Table spoon of ACV morn n nite will help.

Forgot to mention Kombucha & fermented Vege are good immune boosters, thiese things you can consume daily which is allot better approach to strengthen your immune system long term making it more resistant at your workplace rather than a short term fix & general sickness keeps occurring.

Along with the normal difficulties of training and eating a lot, I also have Crohn's disease. Which means I have to take immune system suppressors to keep it at bay. It's imperative to me that I'm strict with all the basic supps/vitamins otherwise I would have no hope.

I keep a steady supply of multi, zinc, magnesium (!), vit d, vit c.

But, I was also put onto HCI powder which is a really good digestive aid. basically meaning I get the most out of the food and supps that I take and that I'm not fluro pissing them out all the time. I highly recommend this one:

You may need to do an HCI test to determine how mch you need but most people need a lot.

Hope this helps.

Daz, apart from us taking the time to watch these videos, can you give us your take and experience, and a brief explanation.

For what its worth, I'm a regular 4 day faster so I'm not having a dig at you.

[Edit- I wonder what it would be like to do a 20-30 day water fast as 4 days is so easy and the 3rd and 4th day you have zero hunger pangs]

You fast for four days?

Every 8 weeks for the last 2 years. Sounds stupid but I really enjoy it.

Not bullshitin, check the fasting thread.

1st day really tough for some reason, 2nd easy, 3rd and 4th their is zero hunger and you dont even think about food. On the 5th day when Im about to break it I couldn't care less if I eat or not.

I'm into natural health and I watch all the videos posted from the guys in my previous post.
The question is..*Do you want to take the time out to finally heal the problem, or do you want to go along with the regular doctors(drug pushers), who just find a way to mask the symptoms, but rarely heal/fix the actual problem?
I've had my own health issues, mainly from smoking, drinking and eating poorly which makes your body more acidic and toxic. I recently did a 10 day fast on nothing but water and will do again soon. Juice fasts are also extremely beneficial, fresh - home made juice, ofc.

Do your own research and take control of your own health... the natural way.:thumbsu:

Luckily for me I've always been fairly hearty, would never get sick particularly often and if I was able to catch a cold in the early stages (i.e. the tickle in the throat stage) and dose up with zinc, vitamin c and echinacea (ease a cold was my product of choice) I would usually be able to shake it off without getting sick. Since I've started LCHF and intermittent fasting my immune system seems to have gone to the next level, I can barely even remember the last time I got sick, so I definitely acknowledge there is a firm connection between nutrition and general well being and particularly the importance of gut flora.

My girl friend however is not so lucky, some of which is not her fault and some of it is self inflicted. She's lactose intolerant but doesn't really stick to a lactose free diet but it's never really had any adverse effects on her, so long as she steers clear of milk she's been ok. However now she seems to be getting worse and worse, she's getting sick quite often and has taken three courses of anti biotics so far this year. Now even hard style cheeses have been giving her inflamed sinus.

I guess I'm looking for any advice or guides that might be out there (particularly interested in the input from Bazzar and ablett) I'm not sure I could convince her to start IF as she loves breakfast too much, I'll have a snoop around the net myself but would appreciate any assistance.

Cheers

She needs to improve her gut flora, poor gut flora-poor health/immunity.
Everyone around me lately has/is sick, general flu etc but not me, not even a sniffle.
She needs to get her bloods done, could be low in Vit D, hormones could be unbalanced.
I imagine her diet would be like the common folk which ain't helping her.
Fermented Vege, tumeric n ginger will boost he immunity, along with Vit D-K-A all work in synergy & shouldn't be isolated.
Anti-biotics worsens your gut flora.

"You are what you eat" is a false statement.

You are what you absorb is a better one. So whilst reducing inflammatory food and getting more nutrient dense food in your diet is a great first step it's also important to look at other areas of your body and life like; waste removal and liver support; reduce stress (ESPECIALLY when eating, parasympathetic system supports digestion whereas sympathetic your blood focusses on muscles etc); stomach acid; chewing food properly (which 99.9% don't do).

1. Choose healthy food options
2. Relax when eating it
3. chew longer than you normally do (goes for pretty much everyone)
4. Sort out stomach acid with HCL (rule out Hpylori infection first though). Take a digestive enzyme as well before meals. None of these supplements should be taken forever, just until you get back on track.
5. Support liver function with milk thistle or another liver support
6. Observe bowel regularity - 12 to 16 hours. If more than that then you have a malabsorption issue if longer than that b/tw bowel movements then you have a toxicity issue (i.e. waste - like toxins and hormones are being re-absorbed into your system) Google beetroot experiment and try that :).
7. Take probiotics intermittently - fermented veg, kefir, kambuccha can be taken all the time but a good quality capsule can be taken month on month off - change the brands and strands around

Digestion offers the most "bang for your buck" in terms of getting your health on a very good track. If you fix that then you'll be amazed at how good you feel and how great the rest of your bodily systems function. :)

***EDIT - first things first, rule out parasites and pathogens and remove them.
