Problem for Sav is the pick we'd get is useless unless it gains us something else.

But if we walk away at 7:30 tonight with Bowes, Bruhn and Pick 7, we are very, very happy! I don't see GFC accommodating anything other than what we've offered to date. We also have the added advantaged of Henry himself now playing hard-ball with the Pies. This trade window has been a massive win as long as we don't give up that 7 pick.

The only thing I want to see that 7 used for is either to get a specific player (everyone saying Clark) or if the Hawks take him before us, I would be ok if we split it for 2 picks under 15.

But if tonight wraps up with Bowes, Bruhn, pick 7 thats a massive win.

We must get Henry home

• to keep faith with him (and his brother)
• to maintain credibility with future potential recruits
• to maintain credibility in future dealings with other clubs.

And preferably without gambling on sending him to the draft.

What are our targets? Bruhn was the only player we directly targeted. If Bowes didn't come with the bonus 7 pick we would not have targeted him. Ollie Henry targeted Geelong not the other way around. So the hypothetical Tuohy trade is not helping land any of Geelong's targets. The whole obsession with Ollie Henry defies logic. It's like a runaway train.

Maybe, but we had chances to give him a game this year and didn't, until we hit the dead rubber playing him in his new position against a team bereft of firepower, after we had released a few fluff pieces about him playing down back in the twos.

If they weren't deliberately trying to up his trade value, they did a good job of it by accident.

Whatever happens today with Collingwood I don’t think we can lose. If he gets here for 25 (or 25 + change) that’s great. We are clearly not going to waver and give up more than that which is fantastic. If Collingwood choose the spiteful route they will come out looking very silly and we are still a decent chance to get him through the ND. If he gets picked up elsewhere - and reports are other clubs aren’t keen to touch him - on a 1-year deal we are still well-placed to lure him back next year which is actually better timing as we have more 30+ year olds (including Rohan) due to retire then.
