If people are not rating the draft it is very hard to trade into the next year without copping a discount on the pick. Probably the only way would be taking it to the draft and then trading it on the night if there was a team desperate for a particular player. You can plan to do that if you have a heap of picks like Richmond last year but tougher for a team like us to go in with that sort of thing as an actual strategy.
Correct me if I am wrong (WTF!) but isn't a weak draft like nirvana for one S Wells?

Thoughts and prayers for you Sir.

You've just shot Bambi. Bambi being an apt reference as he plays footy like Bambi on ice.
The locals don't take too kindly to anything other than praise for Mr Mullin.

Listing him in your weekly "outs" is a no-no as well.
Its a fraction better than his fellow countryman running around in circles.

Who do you see that might offer a top10 pick for Mannagh ? WC, Rich , Stk , Ess , Haw , GC , Syd or WB ?

Cheers for the reminder regarding the draft order tracker - I've now updated an earlier place holder post I had created to add the tracker to and now feels a good time to share it

Like normal, thanks to Lore for the work they do with this, I know it's a much appreciated reference tool

As for your question - I would have said Carlton if they had a top 10 pick. But of those teams that do have a top 10 pick and say he doesn't want to leave Vic, then Richmond & St Kilda could do worse than make serious enquiries

I genuinely don't see how people are saying he's like for like with Atkins though. When Worpel won the Hawks BNF he was playing Tom Mitchell's role. His disposal numbers have dropped in the years since but his damage with it has gone up.

Atkins is having a genuine blinder of a year and going on the attack much more regularly but he's always been a defence first type mid.
I would effin love Tommy to win the bnf, as would many on here.

Think you've sold Tyson up the river a little there and got the order of those guys out of whack

Based on 2025 stats - #1 for most tackles inside 50 & highest average is Stengle with 32 inside 50 tackles from his 16 games, which works out with him as the only Cat averaging 2 tackles inside 50 per game

Mannagh with an average of 1.6 per game sits second for average inside 50 tackles, with Tommy Atkins in 3rd with 1.5

Close has dropped right off this season in regards to being the pressure small forward - just the 9 tackles inside 50 and going at 0.5 per game, and had no more than 2 in any single game this season. In comparison, Jack Martin had 4 on Sunday against St Kilda

And I don't really count Miers as a small forward - he's more of a midfield hybrid who sneaks forward rather than pushing up into the midfield

Based on how they're gone this year, I'd say Close would be the most vulnerable in terms of holding his spot, but having signed a 3yr extension earlier this year he looks relatively safe in our 22/23 - but if another team came knocking for him with an overs offer on the table, then it would make someone like Phoenix a more enticing prospect
Yeah they maybe outta whack i'll give u that... but u get my jist on how things could/can pan out easily.

I don't think it's a fair assessment to suggest that this has been a breakout year for Atkins. I think he's been pretty consistent over the last 2-3 years in a variety of roles.

And yes, I don't think there's a great amount of upside to Worpel.

Just an observation and personal opinion. We don't need to agree.
IMO he is fitter, is backing up first efforts more, is hitting targets more and generally being more good.

That’s a massive gamble considering neither of them has shown much at this time so far and that we need to go hard for a flag while we still have Danger and JC in the side ..only got 1-2 years of having them left

Make a godfather offer for Bont to come over here ..you never know
I would love Bont and he would get another flag. Just a gun.

To me Close is an integral part of the team structure with his outside running. Would not trade.
True he is indeed.
Not 2 trade.... yes... until it suits.
If part of a Butters trade? a Harley Reid trade?
Then all of a sudden. BANG!!
But i do agree with ya as he is in tight with plenty of the core & leadership group at the cattery.

"If someone paid overs"

My post stated I highly doubt anyone pays overs for a player like Close. If there's a bunch of historical examples that fit I'd love to see them.
Trading Close would be like trading Atkins. Rip the heart out of the club sort of stuff. Nobody does more unselfish work for the team than those two.

Something something once a whipping boy...
HE'S A MOMENTUM STOPPER. grabs ball, holds it in and absorbs tackle. Rinse and repeat.

Ok cool but that's not what I was saying. I was saying it's stupid of other sides not to come after a player like him because they wouldn't have to pay overs

What middling role player should we give the blue baggers this time for King Charles. Wiltshire looks promising for this assignment, has played AFL, in an area they need, and unlikely to bite us on the bum.

Good luck with that one Meowbagger. 2 firsts and Mannagh, chuck my boy Jack Martin in there too and I reckon it could get close to a deal!

But hey, at least it's not from ur regular 'ITKs' who have locked in every player with a pulse to come to you for the last 5 years.

The Carlton board are far less trusting of ours, there's even a ranking sheet I've seen of who gets the best info out of the lot. Barass70 the undefeated king, though he's been gone since SOS left.

I take everything everyone says with a grain of salt, even myself when giving my name to a police officer.

Get your point but I’ve seen a lot of those contests as momentum stoppers for opposition- him winning a dangerous ball and holding up play allowing our defence to reset. Have always felt Blicavs does this well and MOC has learned to read contests better this year knowing when to go and when to absorb tackles to allow the reset.
