Well Harold Ramis has confirmed they're back, and should be out in 2011 ...

Not much else is clear right now but they have got to bring back Bill Murray surely ...

What a coincidence... this Saturday night I'm going to see the original movie at an outdoor cinema near Portarlington.

Launching pad to refresh the franchise I'd say. It'll introduce new guys, and the old guys will probably do cameos to hand over the reigns.

Probably my perennial favourite movie from my child hood and still love it today.

3 COULD be awesome.

But also COULD be the abortion that was 'Blues Brothers 2000' (Dan Ackroyd Alert!)

They should go for the old guys putting together a new team with some generic ghost/demonic rising rolled in. That would easily pad out 100 minutes. Get talented comics in the new roles too, they don't need to be complex (one of the best things about the original is that it was nice and simple) - let each guy pick a new guy, they could have a nerd, a cool one, a black one, a fat one etc (no women obviously but you never know these days..)

Gotta have all 4 original guys in there for at least cameos and 'training', maybe even Moranis and Weaver too.

Possible new Ghostbusters??

The original guys were all over 30, probably pushing 40 when the first film came out. I reckon stick to that, part of the charm was that the were regular guys, way out of their league.

Seth Rogen (27) - he'd be a good fit character wise but might be a little young to go along with my other picks.
Will Arnett (39) (Arrested Development, Blades of Glory) - hasn't had a good role in years, can be very, very funny.
The Rock (37) - this one is a stretch admittedly, but he's got a good comic streak and they could make him a coward/idiot or something. Make him an ex-Marine or something (Winston was originally meant to be a marine character but they retooled it when Eddie Murphy pulled out apparantly)
Ed Helms (35) (The Office, The Hangover) - Great 'every man' comic.

Done and done, someone give me a million.

If Bill Murray comes back it will be as a 3 minute cameo as some wise old Ghostbuster Professor type. That's normally the way the old Hollywood remakes go.

I expect the likes of Will Ferrell, Seth Rogan and Steve Carrell to be the new Ghostbusters and I also expect it to be a complete load of shit.

Other than being such a great f@%king movie, the chemistry between Murray, Ramis and Ackroyd is a big part of why Ghostbusters is a much-loved classic.

That's why I'd love to see Tina Fey and Amy Poehler get a proton pack each.

Like it or not, Melissa McCarthy would be the studio's - and probably Feig's - #1 pick with Kristen Wiig not far behind...

They should REBOOT the song and come up with a new tune, if they are going to change direction and NOT have it relate to the original movie they can't re-use the original concepts (including the main song!).
