Thornton<<<<<<<<Gilmore

Thornton often panics too much when he has possession of the ball. Too nervous for my liking.
Gilmore is an a gun and was stiffer than any other player in the suqd after being dropped from his great effort against the Swans this year.

Gilmore has done well at the WAFL level and thus deserves more opportunity at the AFL level. The question is where to fit him in?.

I'm not too sure why people are aiming their arrows at Thornton, he has played some very solid games and has proved he can play the dashing run out of defence game, as well as a close checking role. He does look awkward at times, but he does the job.

Gilmore has yet to prove he can play a close checking role, plus he is "badly" one sided. At least I have seen Heath Black and Josh Carr, change onto their non preferred side to dispose of the ball.

Thornton at the very least broke even with Riewoldt on Friday night - don't think Gilmore could have done that.

Still, I would have had him in ahead of Schofield... a tall, running HBF / wingman - a better option than a broken down, slow has-been IMO.

i totally agree.
Thorton did not beat Reiwoldt, even though he did put in a good effort.
Gilmore should have played ahead of schofield.

Dont be suprised if he is at the eagles next year for a 3rd round draft pick.

Maybe a straight swap for McDUD?? don't think so, not even the Dorkers would fall for that one!!

CC said recently that South Fremantle aren't doing Gilmore any favours by letting him run loose on a wing, because he needs to be playing an accountable role across half back to be considered for Freo.

It's likely that Happy won't be on our list next year. If we are to promote Warren and Duffield we have to move on atleast 5, probably 6 players at seasons end. A 3rd round pick from wet toast would be a good trade but I don't think they need any midfielders or half back flankers. If Gilmore wins the sandover his value will increase, at this stage it's probably a 2 horse race between Happy and Priddis from Subiaco.

Fremantle would be pretty stupid to lose Gilmore. I hope we don't trade him. I'd rather we lose someone thats getting a regular game who has little upside.

By losing Gilmore for a lowly pick we are recieving little for a player who could potentially be very good. The club who gains him has everything to win and nothing to lose.

If we lose a player who is currently performing for a high draft pick. We have little to lose unless that player becomes a champion. The club in question has a lot to lose because the player may not perform at his new club. We have everything to gain because high draft picks can be used to gain very good players.

So essentially trading away young good players for late picks is a bad idea. I'd prefer to see a regular player leave for a 1st round pick giving us a crack at the top youngsters. Its disappointing to see a regular player leave, but it would benefit our list more.

I understand your point rgauci but it's hard to find 5 players who are out of contract who are less worthy of their spot on our list than Gilmore. He is a handy fringe player but will never be a match winner IMHO.

1.McManus to vet list. (I think)
2.Siegert
3.Woods
4.Haines
5.Browne
6.Webster
7.Smith
NB not listed in any particular order.

Thats 7 players which he is more valuable than. Not to mention the contracted Campbell, Copping and Stribling. Bit harsh on the two latter kids, they haven't been around long enough. But at this stage, Gilmore is ahead of all those listed.

But your right, its very difficult to find 5 worthy of delistment. Thats why i think its a good idea to trade a reasonable player for a worthy pick. Allowing us to draft some young talent, and keeping our list full of depth.

Have the WESTERN bULLDOGS got any "young" expats wanting to come home?

Lets face it he is trade bait and with the family connection he will probably want to be traded to WB. Wade skipper? Ryan Hargraves?

He is not at present in the dockers' best 26-27.

I hope he doesn't play against Port. Played two games on the road and we lost both. We need all the Karma we can get

Not sure about using him in the wing. I'd give a wing to Mundy next year he has the smarts (as opposed to polly) and start Gilmore's season off as a defender.

It would be a brave move to include him again this year at such a critical time of the season.

Hope he stays with Freo with his height, mobility and long boot we look to be developing a bunch of talls who can rotate between hbf, wings and midfield.

Mundy, Peake, Gilmore, Crowly and Dodd. With Mcarr and Grover already able to fill that role we will have real depth and flexibility.

You just keep trolling away... sad little man.

The only sad thing for you sonny boy and most of your posts suggest that you are a not very knowledgeable boy,is that everything I have posted about McDud is not only correct but will come to pass in the very near future. When it does just remember I was right and you and all your sad Eagles mates who rated him were wrong.
As for trolling that is exactly what you're doing on here so why dont you just p-ss off back to your protected Weagles board with its Adolph Goldenblue moderator.

Do you even know what a troll is?? I was passing on a piece of information I head heard re Gilmore. I wasnt trying to evoke a response. You on the other hand bring up McDougall out of nowhere, for no reason at all and slag him as per usual. That defines a troll.

You may be right on McDougall, I dont think is a superstar, however you continually go over the top in your attacks on him. And you always try to bring him into any unrelated topic you can.

You obviously have a chip on your shoulder for some reason. I dont know why you care soo much about him. I dont think alot of people disagree entirely with your opinion but the way you bring it up and continually drive it home is what gets on eagles fans nerves.

I very much doubt at this stage of the season anyone at WCE would be talking about a trade for gilmore, let alone talking about what they are willing to give up to get him.

I do as it happens and you obviously don't so do yourself a favour and grab a copy of the Oxford Dictionary and look it up.
You made a comment re Gilmore, a ridiculous one that you claim you heard from someone who is no doubt as equally misinformed as you, that you knew would invite a response.
I'l tell you something there is as much chance of Gilmore ending up on the WCE list as there is of McDUD staying on it.

I don't know why you'd trade Gilmour for a third round pick in a draft that's thinner than Andrew Wills' hairline. Madness I tell you.

We have to use three draft picks, and probably promote Warren and Duffield. MacManus should go vets so thats Warren covered. They'll delist Woods. Thats Duffield covered. Then they'll look around and see what's brewing. before deciding who goes where and whose available. Last year we blew three draft picks on one player.

Haines is contracted till next year and is a much better player than Gilmour under AFL pressure. I'd scratch him off my list.

Siegert, Webster, Smith and maybe Browne may all be under consideration one way or another but they're all handy second string players -- even first string given their age. So I would not be surprised if there isn't a lot of movement this year.

As I recall, Headland is still to be contracted, and I've heard he is under pressure. Watch for a huge game from him this weekend.

From the group of 4 players you mentioned 3 will probably be de-listed, which is a shame because they all have something to offer. I think Browne would have played plenty of footy this season but missing the entire season has seen the likes of Peake, Crowley and Mundy go past him.

I can't see Headland being under pressure to stay at Fremantle as his trade value would be low, although a large pay cut should be on the menu. He's probably on atleast $300,000pa but for the level he has played at since arriving at Freo he doesn't deserve much more than $100,000.

I heard it from a member of the eagles match committee. He didnt say the third round bit, someone else asked that he said it was a possibility. Why would I make it up. Gilmore doesnt mean much to freo people, it wasnt meant to fire them up.

Having said that, I think you are right on McDougall. But he will not be delisted, only traded. If nobody wants him he will be kept.

Glad you agree in part, if they can't trade him and it wont be easy his best hope is that they keep him as a Rookie.

Gilmore grew up an eagles fan and was a huge fan of Glen Jakovich if I recall?

Personally I would rather have him stay on the dockers list.
