If it was as easy as kick it long down the middle than kick a goal things would be great. Kicking in the middle creates more chance of the opposition scoring from the turnover, now seeing our skills have been terrible the last 4 weeks its probably better we dont do that.

Actually kicking down the middle of the ground results to less possesions per goal , less chance of turnovers, quicker delivery to forwards and less pressure on backs to lead to the boundary line and they inadvertally have less likely hood of their opponents exposing them for not manning them up when doing so, it aint rocket scientist technology but nor is our game plan. !!

the issue with corridor football (and my team has an allergy to the corridor or something)

Is that if you are a team with dodgy footskills and you like collingwood fit into this category its means all turnovers are in a dangerous position, they can go left/right/or straight down the guts often at pace

Decent sides bring the football straight into the middle and do the same thing, the only difference is that players within the sides who play via the boundary line is that they have a greater variance from recieving the footy whilst their side is on attack, on the boundary line , and defending aside who is playing direct footy.

I agree at your best you would hope you own the corridor, but playing the cape doesnt mean you leave the corridor uncovered they shouldnt be mutually exclusive.

basically good sides should do both run and move the ball quickly in the middle and be able to kick out when in pressure down the wings

Here's what was happening for first 3/4s today - ""= has ball, X=RFC O=MFC

*Tiger player gains possession on half back flank, and will choose to kick to contest on the right wing:

*The player marks and now looks to kick to the forward 50 target out on the boundary, at this time the demons players will peel off towards the upcoming contest, leaving 1-2 tiger players free in the centre/opposite wing:

*This player now marks the ball on boundary line arc near 50... NOW THEN instead of looking IN or to the OPPOSITE wing where there are free players, the ball will go into the 50 to a leading player near the boundary line (OFTEN RICHO). HOWEVER by this time, the 2 other melbourne players who had peeled off are at the contest, causing a 3 on 1:

* Ball would either be hit out of bounds by the defence, OR dees would run it out of defence on the same wing, as they would have the numbers.

ONLY IN THE LAST QUARTER DID THE TIGERS LOOK INWARDS, AND TRY TO GO LONG THROUGH THE CENTRE - WHEN THEY DID THEY SCORED AND HAD MANY SHOTS ON GOAL!
