Goals That Broke Your Heart

Yeah, I'd have to say 2 which have already been mentioned, the Jeff White goal in 2005 and Sampi's goal after the siren to draw with us at Subi, on Johnno's 200th I think it was- it was as if we'd lost and they'd won the way we were devastated and they were celebrating. Jeff White's was all the worse because it shouldn't have been paid, I've never blamed Skipper for it, wasn't his fault and I have hated White for it ever since...but it made for a better 2006.

Every goal that Freo kicked at the dome in 2003 when they beat us by 80 odd points in front of about 12,000 - That was torture but I stayed to the death (and clapped freo off :))

But seriously Jarmans the one.

The only good thing out of that match was Patrick Bowdens mark :thumbsu:

I was just about to say the same thing. Carlton had lost first round draft picks but not their priority pick, so had we won, we would have finished higher than Carlton.

Yeah, but while that's reassuring now, at the time I wasn't exactly thinking about draft picks...it's strange how things like that can actually turn out for the better.

Agrred, however the one that really pissed me off was the Alistair Lynch goal, followed by the "choke" to Westy. Our finals campaign was on its last breath, but that hurt.

Oh I was at that game as well, loved it when Kretiuk smashed his face in with an elbow. :thumbsu:

Definatly has to be Darren"Bloody"Jarman's and Billy Brownless' Goals I was sitting in the pocket in the Olympic Stand for both of them. and still wont sit in that pocket.

I have deleted numerous posts from this thread. Please keep it on topic.

Opposition supporters throwing their two cents in, may I suggest you read the guidelines thread stickied at the top of the page. Any more smart remarks will earn you an infraction.

i always have a lot of repect for the bulldogs and after last year with franklin i know how it hurts- would have hated it in 97....would have much rather done that to port in the prelim.

The goals that Tony Modra did not get after half time in the "97" Prelim final.

Maybe Jarman would not have come forward and got them goals in the last quarter.

My definition of irony would be if Darren Jarman somehow coaches us to a premiership.

Then I would forgive him.

Is Jarman in the coaching ranks ?

I think he assists somewhere.

Destiny is a great thing that bites you in the ass when you least expect it.

RE: 1997 after finishing second last to a team that ceased to exsist in 1996 (Fitzroy)

Do you know the worst thing about the Jarman goal that burns? IMO we would have gone on and won the grand final. Unfortunately Nicky Winmar and Stewart Lowe had deaths in the family grand final week so they played under difficult circumstances. Consequently Adelaides half back line kicked about 8 between them. Mc Leod had a field day, so did Smart and Shane Ellen kicked 3 from half back.

From a sporting point of view, that weekend was the worst of my life.

Saturday afternoon - Jarman sinks a goal in the last quater to put them in front as I am negotiating prices for grand final tickets with some guy from murrumbeena, on the phone.

Saturday night - As i get a bottle of champagne to celebrates Socceroos 2-0 win over Iran and an historic place in the world cup, I come back to find that Iran has kicked 2 goals in a few minutes.

Monday night - Chris Grant wins the brownlow medal only to have it stripped from him for being suspended, not by the umpires or reporting officials, but by Ian Collins.

What a few days :(

I thought that too as I went to both & there's no way they would have both been played on the same day at the MCG.

I also went to both games. I couldn't believe that the same thing had happened to me twice. Both games ruined by imbeciles - the goal umpire and Peter Hoare.

We had planned to go and see The Year of the Dog after the prelim - rest assured, we didn't make it to the movies.
