If god made the universe... who made god?

After this universe is another universe.

Is there alien life out there? Did god make them too?
There's no god. See http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/the-god-question.885882/. 194 pages, in summary the atheists are easily winning the argument.

Aliens. See http://news.nationalgeographic.com.au/news/billions-of-earthlike-planets-found-in-milky-way/. The Milky Way has 17 billion earth like planets and is one of over 100 billion galaxies. I'd say yes, definitely aliens out there.

Seeing it's a random thoughts thread here are my thoughts on death. It just like the time before your birth. Your not aware of anything. Nothing to worry about.

Folks,

This interesting topic is worthy of a thread of its own. It's been moved here.

FYI blaze036, sd26, jonbe54

ps. It's the off-season and a quiet time of year. That's why this thread has been left on the main Collingwood board. Normally it'd go in the nest.

How do you know there's no awareness before birth. I'd say you have no memory of the period. I'd also say you'll have little memory of much at all after death.

I read Christopher Hitchens' "God is Not Great: How Religion Ruins Everything" lately. A good read and quite eye opening, but after all that, I'm still a fan of Gary.

Ladies and gentlemen, behold your new god!

In any case the universe came from spontaneous creation, sometimes things happen for no reason at all and order does generally come from chaos after all

There had to be something before the first universe was created. Nothing can't just become something

Who says there was nothing?

I said the universe came from spontaneous creation maybe (?) caused by an exploding singularity, containing all mater in the universe (or just different hydrogen ions? Plus the four fundamental forces; gravity, electromagnetic, string and weak pull bound together as a single force). This is plausible and relativity works on this basis in a way, Space and time being bent and gravity being vastly different to what Newton expected.

OR

Two seperate fourth dimension universes collided creating our 3rd dimensional universe!.....look at string theory it's fun stuff

OR

The bug bounce which says the collapsing of one (possibly original?) universe caused a bounce which is the reason everything started expanding again thus creating our universe.

The physicist in me says option 1, the enjoyer of string theory ( and constant want to find uses for all mathematics) wants me to say option 2 would be so much more awesome if true.

Also I think the pursuit of the knowledge of what created the universe will forever be more enjoyable than having that knowledge. The best part of any and every discovery is the journey to the point and once is reached you begin the process of a new goal.......once we know definitively what created the universe what "secrets", "riddles", "mysteries" or " enigmas" do we have left? If any? And how boring would that be?! A world, nay! A universe where there's nothing left to cause surprise or wonderment! What a horribly boring place that would be.

I hope we find out one day, but that it leads to more secrets and mysteries to solve so everyone with an inquisitive nature and lover of science can enjoy the journey for a little longer.

If god made the universe... who made god?
Here is how it works:

When nothing existed, everything existed at the same time.

It was both brilliantly intelligent and a bit dim at the same time.

As such it required activity, otherwise it it would have fallen into entropy.

Accordingly, it created a reality (realities!) that can reduce its entropy.

The optimal state, is giving. No ifs, no buts, no maybes.

Pure giving, is known as love. It is the optimal state of all.

Our reality is a headache, but it's very intentional. It allows us to learn. It is the fastest possible learning environment. It is game, tat we play with ourselves, but it is very real.

Enjoy your time here, but understand this: we are here for a specific reason, and that is, to reduce our entropy and to grow as individuated units of the whole.

The argument from many is why the universe bothers and what entropy is in the way that I use it (it's a metaphor). But carry on thinking, because it it important that you do. By doing so, you escalate the awareness of the whole, and that it is what it is all about!
