Re: goodard?

Not IMO, I don't think he will be back untill ike round 3 or 4.
Lyon knows he doesn't have to rush Beeg back because we have so much depth with youth at the moment.

he was just showing his great talent before he got injured never seen a player week in hit a player 60 meters with such perfection if his kness holds help this guy going to be a star.

i think he'll be right by round 1 but with the depth we have theyll keep him wrapped in cotton wool with casey (until maybe round 3?)..... goddard ball fiora if they can get all firing though will be crucial to a quick transfer of play from backline to forward line due too all having long accurate kicks and very quick bursts of speed when required

Played half the game with Casey today. Will probably get to play with Casey again next week (dispensation as a player returning from injury) and may be ready for Round 1.

I don't think we need to rush him back too quickly.

Apparently it takes a bit of time to find your confidence after returning from a serious knee injury so I'd probably prefer it if he spent a few more weeks with your boys.

Great to hear that he's back though. He's a very important player.

I'm quite interested to know when he'll be back as well. Some have said possibly round 1, some have said cotton wool til round 3-4. Just wanted to know is he guranteed to be back in about rounds 4-5?

Any player who has had a leg injury may be prone to breaking the bones in their foot as a consequence of not using that leg much - the body decides that several bones don't need all the calcium and it is reassigned elsewhere.

Knowing this, players have to be eased back into playing fitness and not allowed to do too much.

Ironically it is quicker to go slow.

If Goddard has already come back and played for Casey, that is a very good sign, but patience has its own rewards. We want Goddard as a long term player for our club. His permanent return to fitness is all important.

I trust that the club has our long term interests at heart and Brendan will play when it is best for him to play. Each week they will assess that anew.

Nobody can give you a definitive answer.

He played his first game for the Scorpions yesterday and he'll most likely play again next week. Personally I wouldn't have thought 1.5 games is anywhere near enough for somebody coming back from an ACL injury but I'm not the one making the decisions.

The decision will be made by the match committee who will no doubt be guided by the medical staff and Goddard himself. He's an important long term player so no risks will be taken.

How that affects your dream team, I don't know. ;)

:p It wasn't very suss was it, but its not dreamteam, it's just a game i've got going with a few friends. Hope he gets back well, i really do and yes he is a long term player for the club, and they can't afford to take any risks. As long as he's back by round 5 its fine;)

He's a good 'ard player isn't he!

Wouldn't think he'd be far off, but maybe a couple with Casey to get the touch back.
nice save on the last line of defense Squzz!

I for one don't think he'll play until at least round 3, especially given our depth. Besides, even if Mission wasn't in Rossy's ear, remember, Ross may well have learned his lesson about rushing back a player from a serious leg injury from the mess we had with Goose last year.

This is going to be a good test for our medical department. Have they learnt their lesson from stuffing up Hammil, Ball, Maguire and Hughton?? If they bring back Goddard in round 1, then obviously not!! Goddard should have at least another month with the Scorpions, playing 50% of game time maximum. If he comes through ok, then have 2 more weeks with the Scorpions playing 80% of game time. If he comes through all of that with flying colours, then he should be given 1 weekend of no footy at all. Then all he would have to do is have a huge week on the training track and if he got through that, then he would be lining up for his first senior game for the year. That would be roughly round 6 or round 7.

Thank you very much!

If Goddard does come back in round one, it means he has been given the all clear. I think David Mission is the best person to make this decision, rather than posters on big footy. Mission is very experience, so i'm confident he will make the right decision.

You've just shattered my whole perception of football Chris. I am freakin' out man!

While I understand you point about GT (Though Maguire was brought back under RL, but Missonless!!!). The players mentioned where played when clearly not fully fit. Maguire though broke a bone in his foot as it was not used to impact loading.

Whereas with GT your knowledge is???
Wht does he need another month???

I can only go by what I have seen by waching BJ play. He looks ready to go.

Whereas with Maguire: he does not look ready to play and the conditioning staff are limiting his ground timea lot more than BJ's.

BJ in the last match was also played in the mifield giving hima thorough workout.

I think that there has been a vast improvement on the player conditioning management side.

Apart from Misson there are 3 instead of 1 physio, an Olympic Team Doctor, a new shrink.....and the AIS subcommitte.

The Saints ability to asess when and how players can and should be brought back is now much improved.

They will know if he is ready to play or not.

But in the Intraclub game he certainly looked ready to play AFL, Goose did not.

That said, it is very much open to the public to discuss, I don't see what the problem is?:confused:

Just watched AFL teams on Fox Sports, said BJ was going to line up on the half forward flank.
