I spent 5 hours in ER in New York City for kidney stones this exact day 3 years ago

$6500

The Travel Insurance hadn’t paid by February and they mailed a dirty legal letter

It was paid

All the best though Horry; sounds like a annus horribilis
What a horrible system they have. My daughter was at the children’s hospital her for 5 weeks and the bill to the insurance company was only $55k. Even without insurance it would have been no cost to us.
My cousin had triplets in the USA, and with the premy births and maternity care was $500k after insurance.

My brother lives in North Carolina. He has lung cancer (never smoked but both parents did). He has twice lost his home covering the copay for treatment cycles. In contrast living here in UK I have not seen a hospital bill since we took British citizenship alongside our Australian. I have never had to worry about the costs for me or my family. The Poms do get the odd thing right.

The mind boggles as to how they can afford it

Pity they're selling the NHS.

Is he in Charlotte?

All the best for your brother's health and to you, my mum suffered the same fate, due to both her parents. Bit close to home being from Tampa...

Take it easy, they have good dr's over there and treatments that we don't even know about yet. All the best.

Mebane. Works in the RTP area.

Had a fantastic Christmas Day. Some reflection on how lucky I am to be here - it's a little depressing in some ways. Hope everyone else had a ripper day too. Horace how's your wife doing?
Thats very nice to read GK. Let's hope each day things continue to improve for you

Mrs.H is slowly improving although the pain is still pretty bad from time to time. She keeps asking for more pain relief, which is a bit tricky as it might just be causing her to speak the odd bit of gibberish.

She rang me this morning to say that she probably wouldn't be able to get to the Renee Geyer concert.😟 I'm pretty sure if she was still around, Renee would be more than happy to help out in some way.

Gotta love pain meds!

I hope she fully recovers soon and can take the meds just for fun 😉

Renee Geyer isn't well. You better let her know. Be gentle.

She certainly isn't well. She died on the 17th of January 2023. As I said to Mrs. H when she rang this morning, I doubted Renee would be able to oblige because she was no longer with us, however, Mrs. H regained some lucidity at the same time and said herself that poor Renee had died.

It's my birthday today, don't have the runs on the board of gokangas but in honour / taking inspiration from this thread I've been to the gym and a 2 hour walk before the sun became too brutal. Hope everyone is taking care of themselves and putting in the work to spend as much quality time with each other as we can.

Happy Birthday shintemaster My birthday next week (Monday). Had a short walk too this morning and then a haircut. Amazing how having a (long overdue) haircut makes you feel a little better.

How many kms in 2 hours?

I am doing 1 hour walk with Woof, (5kms) and then a 1 hour bike ride for the rest of Jan

Honestly depends but typically for me I'd do 5km an hour easily. I walk a lot of recent months (been out of work for a little while and also some time overseas). I like walking, but the time investment is definitely the biggest issue (usually lol) when it comes to it efficiently getting you fitter. I was overseas for 2 months, probably averaged around 10km+ a day over that period and dropped 5kg's without even trying.

And don't forget that we need to eat well too! Hard for those of us with a sweet tooth but very important.

Sounds a bit my pace; I can walk 10.30kmhr over 1 kilometre splits

I look back and was doing 13kmhr a few years back anfvhh that wasn’t fast enough

A lot of course depends upon how much Woof does it’s business or needs to stop and smell some filth

Going by the non north footy thread you seem fairly chipper. Stay frosty.
Doing ok, thanks. At times it's the mental situation that hits me. Why did I survive and what if I didn't? But I am fine all things considered.
