I'm with you re: Goldsack. He was one of my favourites in 2007 and deservedly won the Best First Year Player. But he took a lot of hard knocks that year and carried those into 2008. The 2008 Brisbane game didnt help. He seems to have got more awkward. Needs to pack muscle on dem bones. And maybe that extra mass will curtail that awkwardness. He doesnt seem to read the flight of the ball as in the Essendon game.

Not so with Blight. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in 2009. Pack mark of the match against Coburg Tigers. Great leap and safe hands.

To be honest ive been a big fan of Scott Reed for a while now since seeing him play juniors in the NSW comp and hearing of the club picking him up on the scholarship, ive tried to follow his progess and im rapt we got him on the rookie list. I think he will be a good fit to the club within the next few seasons and can see him taking away "pornstars" spot.

Blight has a rep with him and looks like he has the potential, wont overate him yet lol. Will be happy to see how he progresses this season.

Ah yes, the Maxwell debate revisted. You should always choose your captain from the top ten-fifteen players, Maxwell House is barely there.

Obviously Goldsack is ahead and will remain so in 2009. I wouldn't be expecting to see Blight in the seniors this year, as even if by some minute chance he does make a better case than Goldsack mid-season, he'd still have to be getting past players like Cox and Toovey.

Whilst the comparison is a little premature at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised to see a thread like this in two years time -- assuming that our tweener depth stays the same of course.

I would be hoping that we are able to fashion the likes of Blight and Reed into something other than flankers as we should be well stocked in that position for a while yet.
