Kurt Cobain if still alive would be the biggest selling musican ever . He makes the most money out of all the dead celebritys even outsells Elvis . But drugs came in the way just like Hendrix and Morrison

Cobain wouldn't make the kinda of money those do still today after 20 years.

Didn't have the talent or the voice to leave that kind of legacy.

I am outraged that Jeff Buckley has not been included.

Ha! His best would depend on what songs other people have written that he can cover anyway...

Buddy Holly - Would be getting the sort of songwriting kudos normally reserved for Lennon/McCartney and the likes. His death, and the manner of it, has overshadowed the fact that he wrote some of the most timeless rock n roll songs known to man.

Jimi Hendrix - Listen to Funkadelic's first 5 albums, or some of Robin Trower's early work, and that's the directions Hendrix would have gone had he lived. I can also guarentee Eric Clapton would not have enjoyed the career he has had if Jimi was still among us.

Jim Morrison - As much as i've been a Doors fan since a very young age, there is no doubt in my mind that had he not died, Jim Morrison would have disappeared up the black hole that is his own rectum many many years before now.

Kurt Cobain - I really don't know what would have happened to Kurt himself had he lived, but i'm damn certain we would not have had to have been subjected to the Foo Fighters 'acoustic' album from 'In Your Honor'

Nirvana/Cobain served its/his purpose. The Fooies' first two albums are better than In Utero and Nevermind. I agree with your other three choices, but not this one.

It's not so much that I don't think the Foo Fighters would have existed, or that they are not a good band, more that for some reason I don't think they would have put that record out if Kurt was still around.

He may not have been as popular as he is now, but his music would've been better, that's for sure.

Clapton was seemingly someone who needed the creative fires to be stoked by other people or events - and Hendrix would've helped give him that.

This thread is made for The Notorious BIG and Big L.
Yeah Biggie had a lot of good material left in him, he was only 25 when he died and had one of the best flows going around, could have put out tons of great material (then again, if he was around today he could have become a self-parody like the once great Snoop Dogg).

John Lennon died before his time, would have been interesting to see if he continued making pop like his final album or if he went a bit more edgy.

One of Hendrix's last recordings in 69/70 had him performing in more of a soul/R&B style, and I think he might have done something as part of the disco movement of the mid/late 70s if he continued his erratic behaviour. We would have seen some collabs with Clapton as well.

Hendrix was in a position to make his own music for the last four years of his life. In 1967-68 he released three hit singles followed by three albums (including a double), but in 1969-70 was unable to complete any material in the studio. The hundreds of hours of tape remaining from the latter period is dotted with moments of brilliance, but nothing that he considered finished; it's why the posthumous Alan Douglas productions contain segments of different jams spliced together to form tracks that Hendrix would never have approved for release.

A combination of factors led to this state of affairs, however the critical point came when manager Chas Chandler walked out. Hendrix was lost without his direction, lacked focus and was generally unable to fashion his song ideas into coherent, complete tracks.

Although his playing improved technically with time, I much prefer the raw, early material which burned with energy and creativity. IMO Hendrix' best work was behind him when he died.

I've always wondered what would've happened had Bon Scott stayed alive. Would AC/DC have stayed together this long? Would they have gotten heavier as the 80's rolled on?

I honestly believe they'd be another forgotten 70s band.
