Last week was fun. Had a ball. But it was an anomaly, not the norm.

Our current team and coaching panel will not win a premiership. It needs to be gutted and rebuilt.

I've never said it, and hardly ever thought it in our history... but we needed to lose today.

Good
Jacobs
Talia killed Henderson
Thommo
Laird
Betts
Danger given his injury

Bad and Ugly
Shocking attitude, 56 tackles the week after seeing what 90 tackles can do is beyond poor
Game plan, FFS how slow do we want to move the ball forward?
Sando out coached
Kicking for goal

I'm over these bunch of insipid nut jobs

Good
Laird, Sauce, Talia, Betts, Kerridge on Murphy

Bad
Sloane, Jenkins, Coaching, Umpiring from both sides.

Ugly
First half, no consistency from last weeks effort.
Kicking for goal and hitting targets
How many times did we drop contested marks with front spot?

Good
Sauce.
Talia, as ever.
Laird,
Betts in the second half

Bad
The game plan. It seems our aim is to have more scoring shots than other teams and lose. Because we have no idea how to enter our forward 50m.
Kicking. SANFL level.
Dangerfield's play on. My god. Why??? I think he;s don;e that a couple times this year, and it hasn't yet worked. Go back and slot the fricker.
Sloane. Terrible all day.
Tex. So damn rusty, he needs a bath in WD40.
Truck subbed off - told 5AA it was just about getting a fresh runner on. Screwed up or defensive setup.

Ugly
The entire game. 2 teams who deserve to be 4-5.

Good:

Betts, Jacobs, Talia, Kerridge, Laird.

Bad:

Our complete ineptitude towards fundamental skills which sees us unable to execute certain core skills at even an Amateur football level.

Ugly:

Being the most conservative club on the face of the planet and knowing that in the scheme of things this loss means nothing because how can our admin have the audacity to fire anyone based on a poor performance given their recent record.

Our horrible forward line structure managed by a defensive minded midfielder with no real understanding of the nuances required as a forward in the AFL.

Our use of the sub. I swear to got it's just an afterthought. We're making it up as we go along.

Our ball use

Almost everything.

Good:
Sauce
Talia
Laird
Thommo
Eddie

Bad:
Sloane - worst game of his career
Danger's monumental **** up
Tex still rusty
First half
Goal kicking
Lyons sub - if he is dropped, I just give up
Truck subbed off

Ugly:
Skill level from both teams - both teams are shithouse so it's fitting

Good
Laird
Betts
Jacob

Bad
Goal kicking, game plan, first half, coaching panel, Danger and Sloane brain fades...just another crap effort, by a team who 10 days ago played with such passion. Lyons as sub dumb before the game and it went downhill from there.
Matty Wright FOff you are a waste of space as a footballer.

Ugly
Another Sunday night feeling like shite with a whole week of work ahead of me....
Danger injured and our mids getting smashed today.

Good
Jacobs
Laird
Betts kicking a few

Bad
Sloane
General forward line structure
Kicking 10.16
Skills
Umpires making some shocking decisions

Ugly
Lack of an effective gameplan the players can actually follow
Truck being subbed off for some bizarre reason
Having so many opportunities to win, but then screwing up every single time
Winning contested possessions, clearances, tackles and inside fifties but then losing the game

(Gotta make a first post sometime, and that game was so frustrating I just had to)

Ugly - golden opportunity to make the top 8 squandered by poor disposal and terrible decision making.
Agree & even uglier is it has killed off our season chances.

Good:
Jacobs is having a very good year.
Thommo
Talia
Danger playing in severe pain
One game closer to Walker getting back to AFL standard
Eddie Betts keeping us in the game.

Bad:
Sando lacking a game day tactician still.
Sloane playing the only bad game i can remember him playing (Jenkins mentioned he had the flu on Fri, thinking this wasn't contained to just him?)

Ugly:
Brain fades at epidemic levels
Goal kicking just never improves.
No confidence in skills

Ugly.....

Our gameday coaching is horrendous, its off the fn scale.. These coaches could have the All Australian Squad at their disposal and still lose.
If the opposition coach comes up with something superior to our A game, we don't change it, we sit on our hands and hope and of course then we lose. This is a left over from the craig era and hurting us bigtime. We need someone doing bailey's role that is a gameday legend and we need them yesterday.

It ended up essentially being a wet game. Look at the handling, slips, fumbles etc, just cos no rain is coming down, doesnt mean that you don't switch to a wet game mode. Carlton did it wonderfully, just enough ppl on the outside for the inevitable fumble, then kick long to a contest or retain possession by going back and very very wide and to people way in the clear (so if in the case of the fumbles, they still had time) then move it through open space.

Did we do anything like have numbers forward of the ball or out in space away from the contest, even though jacobs was pretty good at the taps, no way, lets have the same old traditional finals gameplan, do everything in close, have our players at jacobs feet, trip over and block each other and then fumble the ball, it spills out and away they go. Jeez, that's working well. Can we change it up for even one game, nope, nada, nix, nilch, no way ffs.

Lets tap the ball in carlton's direction, lets handball and over possess and then after we've carried it 15-20 m their way, lets lose it to them just in their attacking range. ffs, just look at their kick to handball ratio compared to ours, there's the game right there.

Lets have a third man up and get a good tap, however lets, not have anyone forward of the contest, cos that's too cheap and we only play finals style footy, even though it wins games ffs, and hawthorn, geelong and port are doing it and most likely we wont even be in finals anyway.

Lets do fend offs all round even though the ball was so slippery you had stuff all chance of getting a good disposal away anyhow. On a day like this you keep moving it forward (but ideally have your team mates going there as well) as quick as you can to keep it open cos as soon as numbers get around it, it will be an unproductive slugfest for no return.

What is so criminal about keeping things simple???? Why? Why cant we do that?

End of rant about coaches. Should have been a big win. Coaches doing well at teaching our players how to master mediocrity. You can even see it in the way we play now. Look at our games this season, how much time do we spend just less than the oppositions score??? Lots that's how much. We now are building an inferiority complex, we close in on them but then our inferiority belief kicks in and we just go into a holding pattern for a long time until (usually) they score and pull away (unless they are utterly useless).

Yes it was greasy, but our skills were horrible. People kicking off balance, kicking short and loopy to players with traffic around in greasy conditions ffs belt it as long as you can.

Take a mark ffs.

Kick a goal ffs.

Playing as a team and trusting your team mate would be handy. Lets have 5 up at a marking contest shall we. Can we even get a clue about how to move the ball from a kick out. Can we get a clue about how to defend one as well.

If Dangerfield resigns till the end of 2020 tomorrow, all will be forgiven.

I'll be happier if danger re-signs as much I'm annoyed he played on, he is a keeper ;)

Ugly: I'm a vic adel fan and I've always read this forum but I have to jump on the first time and scream that I'm over sando. We do have a good list, not great, but it's better than what he is getting out of them. What's the plan? Why aren't they jumping out of their skin in the opening quarter with confidence after last week?

Good
Jacobs
Betts
Thompson
Laird

Bad
Mackay's goal in Q4 after an otherwise insipid game will book him in for the rest of the season. Has he ever broken a tackle in his life before?

Sloane? My goodness. Was deplorable against Melbourne, good against Collingwood, deplorable against today. So unlike him.

Jenkins had no impact.

Podsiadly had no impact.

Smith had no impact.

Ugly
Dangerfield looks like a cripple out there. For his sake, PLEASE make the decision for him and give him a few games off. Yes he can still soldier on but ultimately we lose out because he's never going to be fit.

Field kicking, goal kicking and handballing.

I'm interested if anyone saw how much running we did in the warm up compared to the opposition. I know when I played sometimes when we did a big warm up and the opposition kept theirs brief I had a hard time keeping up with them at the start of the game. I was at our melb game and we came out first and seemed to do more running than them but not by much. I noticed against collingwood the tv showed that collingwood were out first, I couldn't see how much running we did or didnt do but we seemed to go much better, could we have been helped by circumstance keeping us fresh. Now before ppl shout me down "that theyre elite runners that cover 20k's per game and a tiny bit of run extra at the start wouldn't hurt" - this has become a game of get whatever advantage you can - collingwood were breathing oxygen before the game, you want and need to get every advantage you can.
