Well done to the kid on making his debut against the GC.

If his highlight reels are anything to go by, I think we've found ourselves an absolute beauty here.

Haven't been this excited about a debut since big Kreuz and I have to say I've been looking forward to this kid's debut more than the three no. 1's we took a few years back.

We all know how thin we've been down back for the last 10 years or so (yes its been that long). Long gone are the days of your Silvagni's, Sexton's, Mckay's, Dean's, Christou's etc (starting to sound abit like Gary Ayre's there).

Great Carlton sides of the past have been built on rock solid backlines and IMO this kid is one of the big missing pieces in the puzzle (not to put too much pressure on him of course :))

I want to see Ratten give Watson the kick-in duties from the get-go and give him licence to roost those left-footers into the centre circle (yes he can kick the ball that far). His kicking is an absolute weapon and how good is it to have another left-footer come through. Hopefully the 'Woof' can get going and stick.

Good luck Watto - go out there and kill em!

I hate pumping up kids to early but gee Matty does look good.

Hoping the Woooofffff takes off from all the Carlton supporters at the ground and i am genuinely excited ( like us all i suppose ) to see Matty have his first proper hit out. :thumbsu:

One thing I noticed from that highlight package (apart from his massive kick) is his knack for always being in the right place. He seems to read the play really well.

Goodluck to him!

Well done he should have played last week, but better late than never, have fun out there tomorrow Matty.

I can see this bloke becoming a crowd favourite. Good luck on the start of what is hopefully a very long and successful career with the Blues.

Enjoy your 1st game of many in the Navy Blue.

Hate to seem like im insulting the bloke.. but i dont think he'll become a stopper. More of a Thornton with a bigger kick and stronger body in the contest.

What a great photo and the excited and proud emotion you can see on Matty's face just glows with radiance. A picture really does speak a thousand words.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Proud as punch he is ours. :D

Make no doubt about it, this kid can play. Be sure to keep an eye on him because I can guarantee that he will make an impact.

This is the perfect time for his selection. He will be playing on two young forward in their first games so they're compatible with each other.

^^ Hahahaha.

Agreed he looks absolutely stoked though :thumbsu: I don't wanna put too much more pressure on the lad than he already has but good luck to him, I think he'll be a good 'n.

Good luck to the bloke in his first game. I'm really hoping he develops into a stopper at CHB for the next decade, but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. All the best to him and the boys tonight. :thumbsu:
